You don't (which is what I meant with: you don't even need to buy every expansion) but there are quite a few people out there who don't want to start a game unless they have the 'everythings'. And a price that high for all DLC is a barrier to entry for some.

I still yarred every DLC to have less of a feeling of missing out on some fluff. Though I had 0 worries when I bought HoI 4 knowing there be a lot of DLC after release.

Was a bit more apprehensive with CKIII but that was because Imperator: Rome was released rather barebones. And hoping that wasn't going to be the new standard at Paradox.

Yeah, I did the same. Bought base game + couple of DLCs I wanted. But after some time/more DLCs passed, I just went with the yarr verson Very Happy

Guess I'll apply the same tactic for CK3. Smile
Was waiting to see first impressions from CK2 players first, and it's overwhelmingly positive. I guess this came to lot of people's surprise, after Imperator: Rome. Smile

There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

Aye, the one thing I have heard of CKII players consistently say (not a majority though) is that they had to get over the UI and it not having the same 'feel' as CKII.

I think I have around 1000 hours in the game so I can't say I've played as much as others... but I didn't struggle with it. I did a bit with HoI 3 to 4. But CKIII just went smoother than I expected it to be than that HoI experience.

But yeah, largely positive with some quirks here and there and some things they could improve.
I had a bit of trouble after a few land grabs to track my construction. But that was me being naf not noticing the scroll above your realm button which shows every construction going on.

Yeah, you get so used to the CK2 UI that you're looking to the top left of the screen for the buttons when they're not towards the right, but you get used to it easily enough. Just had to set that tooltip delay time to be faster so it doesn't disappear after highlighting and trying to go into the tooltip.

What annoys me about the CK3 UI is that it takes a ton of screen space. I'm probably in the minority that liked CK2's UI though.

It could be but on my 49 I havent found a way to move around the static UI elements like the side menus. I use the screen for sim racing so its quite close ... and the side menus are each on 1 side and it makes my head spin Laughing

Oh boy, another witch hunt? How many companies will we lose to this. Sad

I mean, I get it that some people are assholes and some are moreso assholes to people of the opposite gender. It's stupid and nonsensical, but so is simply being an asshole to everyone. But maybe we should stop and think about whether the backlash isn't blowing the whole issue a bit out of proportion.

Even the woke devs can't escape the woke hammer.

A dev hinted in August that the expansion won't be coming soon. There's a chance it will be pushed back to early next year.

Oh dang. Did not hear about it getting pushed back. That sucks.

Also, yeah. Bullying and sexism is very likely in a workplace, much more so the bigger the company. Don't see why it's just game companies people are going after. If they want it to be related to gaming, they should check out their local marketing / ad agency that handles games or something. Pretty sure those places are rife with bullying and harassment.

Damn...still haven't got into this one. Had the game from the start but for some reason whenever I feel like starting it, I stop Laughing

Guess I realize it takes sometime to learn most of the stuff in there and I just don't have it.

I had a buddy teach me Hearts of Iron 4 and then I got that one. Was hoping to get into this one too but every time I start, it seems overwhelming. Need to find some Let's Plays and hopefully pick it up from there.

CK is easy compared to Hearts of Iron. It's very forgiving and more of a sandbox game. Just play it and learn along the way.

Yeah, I started it last night and surprisingly, I did well after the tutorial but I made a blunder. after taking the county to the south in the south, I fabricated a claim on a county to the east and created a title on that county and then put that southern county's vassal's son in as a vassal. Well, then the game told me that was not a good idea because (from what I recall), he was not of my lineage and had a claim on that now and could claim that county and may pay less taxes. Anyway, that friend of mine told me this am that it wasn't all bad as the only way that would be a blunder is if that person was married matrilineally, and the wife also had land then you would end up where the children would take the wife's primary title, and by succession that land would go to them but that is overly complex and definitely not in Ireland. Also, claims are kinda easy to get in the game. Sure I gave him access to one, but its not really a big deal as he is my vassal and if he gets too big, I can fabricate a claim on one of his lands and legally take it.

Otherwise, the only stuff that's confusing is how much I can control vs. what vassals can control and what the limits are. Knowing I want to take over Ireland and then England and unify all of that, I need to figure out how to make sure all of that is run appropriately within the limits of people. And then move on to the mainland.

But yeah, it is so much easier than CK2.
