Can I get link? I haven't seen them.
First part was one of the nicest suprises for me (another ones were Mass Effect and Borderlands)
I had no intention to play it - I found nothing interesting in all the screenshots and trailer.
But when I played it - I loved it. Story, atmosphere, gameplay 9 (see RE? you CAN do walking and shooting at the same time in horror game and not loose immersion).
I finished it few times.
Can't wait for sequel.

We are trying to build a game where ppl need to feel scared that really horrible things can happen..
ehmm jumping out of the corner every now and then became very old after couple of hours, hope they come up with something like more scarier atmosphere rather than how many testicles monsters will have and how often they will jump out to scare u
btw heavy aliasing goin on on those screens and those are crappy scans

yeah they need to fix the mouse controls but i played through the first one three times in a row and that's rare for me. total <3. I love it how one type of light casts an orange light except when it's facing you, then it's a light-blue colour, really nice touch.

Dead Space 2 'more action than horror'
Quote: | Dead Space 2 will feature less horror and more action that its predecessor, according to developer Visceral Games.
The studio - whose Dante's Inferno hits UK stores on Friday - said it has a dedicated team working on Dead Space 2 and that the new game would "empower" players.
CVG confirmed last month that the Dead Space 2 release date would arrive before before March, 2011. Highly likely to be Christmas, then.
"We've got two main teams; we've got some supporting content for Dante's Inferno coming out, but we'll mostly shift our attention to Dead Space 2," Visceral senior VP Nick Earl told Industry Gamers.
"The first one was well received, and we want to take advantage of that start with something that has tremendously wide appeal.
"We're more focused on the action than the horror this time. We're more empowering to the player. We've got a lot of feature innovation and we feel comfortable because we have something with resonance and we have something that's so capable.
He added: "I've heard some people say that Dead Space was the most "un-EA game" they had seen, and they meant it as a compliment! Funny anecdote, when [EA CEO] John [Riccitiello] in his position several years ago and was touring the studio, he said he wanted a horror game. He went away and when it came back, he helped support and finally realize that game in Dead Space.
"That's one thing we like about Visceral; we can really establish a new audience with it. I feel it's on the pathway to greatness and being widely recognized. We love the culture we've established in doing edgy properties like Dead Space and Dante's Inferno, created with the philosophy "let's build quality and let the rest follow." |

Another victim of mainstreaming?

boooooooo
but lets face it. you dont get a more mainstream platform than a console, so it makes sense to make the games as mainstream as possible..
which is a pity, because theres allready more than enough action games out there.. a more horror focused game might actually make it really stand out.
but meh.. i guess they dont want to scare off all the console gamers or something :/ bunch of pussys.

Loved the first one. We'll see how this "more action, less horror" works out. I just hope the mouse controls are better this time around. That was really the only qualm I had with the game. Loved everything else about it.

Gee... I wonder if they realize that the horror and genuine fear element that came from playing were the only things that separate this game from the army of non-scary bad sci-fi shooters.
Its like someone making a scary movie then at the last minute deciding that its too scary for most people and decide to dumb it down, so your fatass aunt rachiel isnt afraid to see it.
Bad idea imo, their going to lose the primary audience and pickup a few casuals that won't stick around long.
EA is retarded though, dunno why I would expect anything but this kind of non-sense.

First one produced a few shocks, but it was never scary or fear inducing.

ah but remember, shocks are the new 'fear'. nothing scares you anymore really.. just look at games and movies... everything is all about the sudden loud violin screech and monster closets... whats the last 'scary' movie you ever saw? its all 'uncomfortable' gore, loud noises and sudden appearances. true horror is dead. no one has the time or the patience or the creativity to do it properly anymore, thats why the horror genre in movies has turned to shit.

I stopped playing Dead Space right before the end as, together with RE5, it was the only game that me a palpable feeling of nausea and made me all dizzy with its controls and weird mouse sensitivity.

Yes, the camera/turning and field of view was atrocious. I battled through it because it was an awesome game, though.
I guess it was made for console boys that sit 12 meters from their TV and can't see shit anyway.
Or maybe their underdeveloped brain isn't susceptible to nausea.
