No matter what settings the game simply doesn't run at stable 60fps...It constantly drops and has that laggy/stuttering feel. Couldn't find any solution and subreddit is fine with 30fps.
Have you tried setting sharpness to 0?

My 3070 arrived today, quite impressive jump in performance compared to the ole 1070
Surprisingly, the game is running at 50-60 FPS@1080p while staying on or very close to 60 most of the time (almost all settings on max with the exception of a few ones which I don't remember now). Weirdly enough, if I turn off FSR + Dynamic Res entirely, I get a 3-4 FPS boost across the board compared to both of those options on
Thanks. I disabled FSR and dynamic res and the game seems to run better and smoother. CPU usage also went from 10% to 50-60%.
hours 1-3: starfield 76
hours 4-6: kinda bored
hours 7-10: starting to get lost exploring random shit, discovering a lot of gameplay systems
hours 10-50: can't remember when i last did anything but play starfield
normally i burn out on bethesda games by about hour 70-80, they just get too repetitive, mostly chasing relatively dull quests.
not the case for starfield for me, doesn't even feel like i've gotten anywhere in the game yet am getting actual good at ship combat, had more than a few tense encounters where I'm in full elite dangerous mode wish the ground combat received the same level of attention
might make it to 100 with starfield, maybe further. not bad given i am real tired of playing 76 and i couldn't even get 50 hours on fallout 4.
Game is great, only thing I miss is the only thing they didn't rip from NMS, the full landing and real time travel. And maybe vulkan renderer. All the PC shit is in so no bitching about that.
The intro is shit, yeah, but it's just pure hype blowing off after that starfield logo first time you boot it. FO4/3 intros were kinda rushed as well but weren't as shit as, say, Prey's.
I can't put down the gaempad and neither can any of you fukin boomer snobs. We got what we wanted. There's even DLC to be expected and mods that will probably surpass FO4 10fold.
Music is ace. After initially being slightly overwhelmed, now at lvl12 I don't want it to ever end.

10/10.
you know it actually reminds me a hell of a lot of freelancer right now, much more so than ED/NMS
the big differences being the combat is much better than freelancer, but trading is basically non-existent for me so far, i think thanks to 76 style resource balancing i am gonna need a mod for trading here plz
We saw similar in the StarBound (even remember this crapola) vs. Terraria situation, UnlImiTeD woRlds to ExploRe! durr Hurr = makes no sense to the gameplay, unlimited soulless worlds not worth bothering with. Procedural content can be great if its a map seed, itemization etc. but multiple/unlimited worlds has always been worse than smaller scope hand crafted worlds, it's just content for the sake of content.
I don't doubt every world is 2-5 repetitive points of interest, 1 animal type solo or in clusters, flat / rocky barren landscape, maybe 1-3 random mining resources. I will say some of the worlds look pretty cool graphically but ultimately its make the gameplay worse than Skyrim.
I tend to be really gameplay/mechanics oriented with games, I get immersion too but it's probably secondary. So if I'm to assume to that people liking this game are more into the immersive aspects of the game, why would you prefer this game over StarCitizen (8hrs total playtime) because the tech demo is 100x more immersive than this game? and genuinely has its no fucking way moments even with seemingly benign tasks like just getting your ship, leaving the planet and flying to another one.

well that's not hard to answer: star citizen isn't much of an rpg and it just doesn't respect your time while simultaneously being the most buggiest unfinished mmo on the market yes, it has many aspects that are better than starfield, being a god-knows-billion dollar project helps, but not as a playable game.
not to say i wont ever play star citizen eventually, but damn that is a static game with nothing going on. ED is also glacial compared to starfield, but it's still leagues more interesting than what star citizen is right now. ultimately the verdict is not entirely out on starfield, but i'd say it's in a good spot at release and modding will likely eclipse anything either game mentioned could achieve.
comparing starbound to terraria is always fun but has zero relevance to starfield honestly
starbound had a lot more flaws beyond infinite worlds. it was never equal to terraria in basically any respect.
starfield on the other hand isn't perfect by any measure but it doesn't seem any worse than fallout or skyrim (to me) and further builds upon them. it has literal mountains of handmade content before even looking at procedural worlds anyway. realtime travel certainly would have been a lot better for me (and vehicles ffs), but the majority would just skip it or complain about shit taking too long (like always)
in the end i dont think it really needs to compete against SC/NMS/ED, we don't have that many big scifi titles, although maybe with time it will end up beating all three anyway, the base engine is good enough here. we just need to shoehorn in some more involved planetary and space flight mechanics
trillions of dollars but none for a new engine and killeable NPC's. From what I've read most named NPC's can't be killed. Typical fragile deep as a puddle Todd game. one whiff and the whole game breaks.
Hell, I haven't even seen a single usable ladder, and that's literally all I teased about this entire time.
"You can be a goodie two shoes, or ehh a goodie two shoes, YOU WILL BE A GOODIE TWO SHOES MY GAME WILL BREAK IF U DONT DO WHAT I TELL U IN THIS RPG"
no matter what other game you compare it to this one falls flat, if you call it a looter shooter then borderlands did it better and HAS VEHICULES.
If you call it a space game, obviously NMS, Elite dangerous etc did it infinitely better.
RPG? come on now
Happy grindfest to "get to the good parts"

I didn't play the game yet I've been replaying better shit.
I expected this game to be FO in space, and from what I've read it's a worse FO in space. I'm in no to hurry and yarr it and experience the disappointment first hand.
The performance is truly dog shit considering how it looks, its like 60s usually on a 4090 + 5800X3D FOV makes me feel sick etc..
i'm afraid the 5800x3d performs like dogshit in starfield, and so do the entire 5xxx and 3xxx ryzens
where is the amd optimization i only just bought this cpu
why ask me why does it have to compete? it was all u sheep saying it was going to be better, now suddenly it dosent have to compete....
because apparently you're the only one here that isn't a sheep in clown world
do tell
i said i wasnt interested in this game even before release, my expectations were already low from what i had seen, and bethesda history, and with the release it only confirmed what i thought was gonna be. all these things were logical assumptions, but sheeps dont think
there is no reasoning with the sheep, but its funny how all i see is dissapointment now
was even funnier when everyone was livestreaming it and the longer they streamed the bigger the dissapointment

yes, the lack of simulated space shit is annoying, but it's still a better game than NMS/SC. the masses can think whatever they want, which usually means not much. most of them are focused on pedestrians looking downwards neanderthals
not much different to what happened with cyberpunk but i dont think its anywhere near that bad where people were literally so deep into a mass frenzy, they couldn't get over the shitty pedestrians and ps4 nothingburgers to bother seriously playing the game, they just wanted to be part of the fucking noise.
Yeah I'll call this out because shit like this bugs me. About this amazing Starfield musical score (and this is all AAA and big budget movies lately not just me shitting on this game). They have money + an orchestra, I honestly believe in these cases they task the composer with ripping off a popular theme the target market audience that would know to help sell the game/movie.
Starfield, 0:23 seconds.
Hunger Games, 0:04 seconds.
it's 1 note different, and the hunger games one is better. Then they absolutely saturate you with that melody over and over. So yeah, im not impressed with the StarField score.
