The first time I heard of The Game Kitchen was when I played their brilliant pixelated horror adventure game ' The Last Door '. It was a game that turned into a series, which had me hooked right from the very beginning, and that wasn't just because of the story but also the characters, the tiny pixels and the dark menacing overtones. Well that same team behind that game, has just announced ' Blasphemous ', a gorgeous looking platformer that once again follows the dark and menacing theme.

Love these games trying so hard to be "brutal" now.
Tell you what, Ninja Gaiden on NES is brutal without all the bullshit. Make a good game, no one gives a shit about being able to chop off a head. WOW HEAD AND BLOOD SO BRUTAL@!!1!11
Nothing is hard or brutal these days. Lion king on snes is what you can call brutal.
lol, now I'ma have to go play that.
In those days developers didn't want people to finish the game in the rental time so they made it insanely hard.
Zelda 2 on NES.
People have a bit of a love/hate relationship with that one but it's not strictly because of just the difficulty even if it's crazy challenging requiring heavy grinding as to not get destroyed but even that doesn't help later on.
Also had that classic early 90's - late 80's? - English translation quality resulting in various memes and unintended mature themes.
I guess it's just one example of many to be fair, Contra, Metroid, even Mario for that matter.
Mario 2 was thought so difficult we got some alternative version here in the EU and US and it wasn't until later they actually released the proper one heh.
(American Final Fantasy or Final Fantasy - Mystic Quest also comes to mind, way to insult the western fan base there Square.)
To celebrate, we've put together a new version of the Kickstarter video, featuring all the visuals improvements we've achieved since the launch of the campaign. Judging by the noticeable progress compared to the original trailer, it's hard to believe that we managed to pull it off in *just* two years.
Once again, we are delighted to thanks our loved backers, the real heroes who made all of it possible.
It looks promising to me, but so it did Slain and...damn that one stank . Let's hope for the best!
Didn't it receive a large update later on that was supposed to fix some of the more egregious issues, at least? Never got around to trying it, plus I still need to play Salt & Sanctuary and Dead Cells too.

Haha yup! It did indeed, they even re-released it as a patched-up 'Back from Hell' version. I haven't found the time to try it either, but it should definitely be in a better state now than the old catastrophically rushed 1̶.̶0 0.1 version.
This looks like a game for people who grew up with NES/SNES or Megadrives, ie. consoles. The gameplay looks late 80'ies/early 90'ies. Nothing wrong with that obviously if you're still into stuff like that.
MC at the main menu be like "I'm tired of this shit"
