So the whole "vehicle specific classes" bit DICE has been droning on about turned out to be complete and utter bullshit?
In that IGNeds warplane video posted above, he jumps out of the plane as a pilot, and when he parachutes down he's instantly a medic. I thought they were supposed to get rid of that stupid shit?

I can't be bothered to find the segment you're talking about in that video, but no, it isn't bullshit.
When you spawn as a tank driver or a pilot and get out of your vehicle, you do have a special kit. A pretty crappy one at that, so you really don't want to get out of your vehicles unless you have to
Awsome, however - it will be really hard to keep track of what points you got or lose without the hud
Haha yeah, I wish we could play in that beautiful clutter-free way without facing the consequences of being handicapped in the battlefield. We should have a dedicated HUD-less mode for everyone, now that would be a more fitting WW1 experience
(inb4 we always end up bayonetting and roasting our poor buddies)
Someone on NeoGAF wasn't a dumb cuck and made sense for a change:
"What do you think of when you think of a Battlefield game?"
-2d spotting only, no shooting at orange triangles or red circles
-the map is the place where you get all your info not some onscreen HUD
-no ADS, only sniper rifles with scopes allow that
-large conquest maps with the capture points more than 30 seconds apart, where taking a capture point has a meaningful and lasting impact on the shape of the battle and where the frontlines move. True conquest gameplay has been missing from every battlefield game since bad company 2, these days it's just a glorified king of the hill.
"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.
Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

Upon second glance I realized he had spawned in the plane as a tail gunner ("technically" not the pilot). Still kind of cheap. I was hoping combat vehicles would finally be exclusively used as such and not as taxis. Oh well.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Yeah right, those linear clusterfuck maps are what true conquest is all about!

Damn my old i5 2400 gets hammered all the time, usage nearly or at 100% and the game freezes for a second or two from time to time
Just an update coz some of you might find it useful.I've installed windows 10 64bit pro just to check bf1 and with dx 12 i get around 20 fps more plus the game is not freezing nor stuttering anymore
Battlefield 1 will be getting a beta "shortly after Gamescom" according to German community manager Sebastian Moritz.
The info game out in a Twitch stream with CmdKrieger (translated here, via VG247). Gamescom is running from 18 to 21 of August so if Moritz is right we'll be getting it around the last week of that month, or early September.
