How can I force Alcohol to burn at 1x or 2.4x? I only get an option of 5x or 8x 
Read somewhere that it is drive firmware and media dependant so I stuck a 2.4x dual layer DVD+R in and it still o ... |

Goto alcohol's website, google it. Hit there forum, there is a whole section
devoted to it. Basically, it reads the physical data from the dvd, if iam correct, could be wrong.
