This is what I did:
Reinstall game
Use the new crack/MEPatcher
Play through the citadel and I'm now on a moon of some sort.. dont know how to exit the Mako :S

Nope! The crack WORKS. my game didnt crash!
Anyone who says anything else hasnt tried for themselves. I spent 3 hours just for this reason but now the game works! Yippay! =) |

I can confirm that the new crack works.. atleast the save.
I've not gotten as far as to the galaxy map but you can now save the map when running around in that city!
