Quote: | "We have agreed to a multi-title, multiplatform deal to reboot the King's Quest franchise," Telltale SVP of marketing, Steve Allison, announced during a press event last night. "Much like we did with Tales of Monkey Island, we're rebooting King's Quest with all new episodic games and multiple series." He provided no details beyond that, but promised more would be revealed at E3 this June. |

Telltale are on a roll. First, it was 'Back to the Future', then 'The Walking Dead' and 'Jurassic Park', and now it's a King's Quest reboot.

Let's doom and gloom after they release them, and if they are actually bad. OK?

Well, we seen Jurassic park and it looks like shit, now we will see walking dead and these other games (which will ultimately look like shit).
Honestly it sounds like they just found a few big name titles that have had there names lose value over the years, so they were easy to obtain rights to make a game and there names are familiar with people so they assume they will make allot of money making cheap games based on well known movies and shows, it probably would have cost to much for them to make a walking dead game based on the TV show since its pretty fresh and popular so they just took the name, put out some bs article that hints its related to the TV show but than say its going to be based on the comic not the TV show.
Telltale are shitheads, wanna be game devs, all these games will fail.

atrox6661 : WTF? Telltales are awesome. Sam&Max have one of the best kind of humor I ever heard, Tales of Monkey Islands too. Strong bad was pretty good. I agree Back to The Future isn't that funny, but the same quality apply for the scenes and everything. Seriously, TT games are in the best special-style (games that aren't shooters or racing or something) games I played lately. I have high hope for all these games.

Wasn't talking about quality, but quantity.

I won't judge you, some people think hl2 is the best game made.

Telltale is awesome, but King's Quest games must be punishing hard, unlike their latest games. Back to the Future is awesome story, characters and dialogs-wise, but there was no real challenge in both episodes.

I don't hate them, but I don't understand the love either. It's an average developer re-using old ideas.

Couldn't care less about Taletale and anything they are making. Opening scene of Gray Matter has more personality than gazilion of Sam & Max episodes put together.

We have heard about Telltale’s announcement, and we’re excited to see where it goes! It’s great that the series will be getting an official continuation, and TTG has made some great adventure games that have been reviving not only classic franchises but the genre overall. We love the work they’re doing, and of course our own game has been influenced by their episodic model.
We’ll still be completing The Silver Lining as planned. (In a funny twist of fate, Episode 3 just launched yesterday, while this announcement was going down!) We like to think that TSL has helped show that the fans are still eager for more KQ, so it’s great to see the life in this series returning in an official way.
It’s definitely a great month to be a King’s Quest fan!

i dont mind the graphics at all, its simply not important in games, note that i mean graphics capabilities, not the artistic way of drawing the graphics.
anyhow
i really looked forward to the back to the future series, but i try my best not to be disappointed with them.
They are so easy.....and i dont want to sound like a broken record but its sad when even adventure games are like some interactive movie, there isnt much gameplay, you just do a >few< puzzles and thats it. Yes i know all you did was clicking and solving puzzles in older adventures games but here is the catch:
We had 2 episodes now, with an ashtonishing 2 outside areas, and around 4 inside areas and about 10 people to interact with.....
As i said i dont mind the graphics, low poly medium texture cartoony graphics are just fine when on a limited budget/time. But i do expect something in return, the world , well the one square in BTTF is so cramped.. you can go inside the bar..... visit doc inside a house.. and thats it......
barely anything to click, barely anything to pick up, you cant combine.....
a hint system, i mean, just sell people a movie of someone playing the game for you.
i dont miss pixel hunting games ala last crusade, but at least a game from the 80s felt like you were in that world, you could investigate almost everything, there were so many posibilities to try out with items and asking questions.
While i am happy with the resurge of adventure games in recent years which gave some great games up there with the old lucasarts adventures, its sad what telltake which has some of those old lucasarts veterans in its ranks turned into.
They spend alot of money on the rights to those themes, the soundtrack, the voice cast.... and in return we didnt get much

Well they clearly do some fast jobs going for the easy money. All these announcements at the same freakin moment draw a clear picture. I for one am not happy tehy're reviving these titles. It's like digging up a cow to get that last bit of milk. Very nice strategy though, dig out those old known titles and release them as fast as possible before the gamers wake up. I'm surprised no one did this sooner.

Why not though? I've heard very very good things about their Sam & Max and Monkey Island games.
It's their other games, which are not based on old adventure games, that people sometimes complain, no?

Sam & Max was a poor imitation of the prior titles imo. I must admit I didn't play their Monkey Island remakes yet.
