Engine Clock:1120MHz
Memory Clock:1400MHz
Memory Clock Effective:5600MHz
Memory Interface:256-bit
Stream Processing Units:1280
SAPPHIRE 4GB RADEON R9 270X DUAL-X OC
Engine Clock:1020MHz
Boost Clock:1070MHz
Memory Clock:1400MHz
Memory Clock Effective:5600MHz
Memory Interface:256-bit
Stream Processing Units:1280
PALIT 4GB GEF GTX 760 JETSTREAM GDDR5
Engine Clock:980MHz
Boost Clock:1033MHz

They just as good as each other?

760 should be a bit better.
Have you tried looking at a R9 280/X? Performance is oln par with GTX 770 but it's cheaper and has more VRAM. I actually regret not getting one, instead of the 770.

All I could find was the 3gb version of the R9 290X, the ones I listed had 4GB but will that matter?
I like bum.

Well the 280x is still a great deal more powerful than a 270x, so it's the better choice even with 3GB of VRAM vs 4GB. The RAM is less important than the overall grunt of the card, IMO.

It's not even in the same ballpark, let alone a fair comparison Don't worry about the 3GB/4GB thing unless you're comparing exact cards - such as 290x vs 290x, etc. The performance difference/gap between a 270x and 290x is like 80-100%, I shit you not. |
A thousand times this. Unless it's a 780 with more VRAM, or at the VERY least, a 770, that much VRAM is not necessary. To my knowledge, a large amount of VRAM is needed for high resolutions, such as post 1080p, or extra wide res. A 270x or 760 will still run like crap, even with double the VRAM in graphically demanding games, in resolutions above 1080p. A 280x or 770 is your best bet, I like to believe it will last you at least 2 years(I really want this to be true, I own a 770 for now ^^), unless you wanna buy an 1440p/4k display two years from now. Fairly sure Sabin can attest one of his 570's can still run games okay when not going nuts with anti-aliasing and stuff. Or, if you wanna put little more cash, get a 770, if you're into that whole Shadowplay debacle, tho you can also stream/record with an AMD card and Open Broadcast Software/Dxtory.
As a side note, the R9 290 is the best card you can get for the money, right now. The performance boost the R9 290X offers is not warranted by the difference in price. But the 280X should suffice.

Yeah, that much VRAM is just wasted unless you're playing Ubisoft games (boom boom) or >1600p, you're far better served with a powerful card. My pair of 570s handle most anything I throw at them, with the sad exception of UE4 and uber-highend CryEngine 3 stuff.

Your CPU is gonna be massive bottleneck for the 280X, other than that it was good choice.

Great card, tho I'd have steered clear of the ASUS, read some round ups for the R9 280x series and the ASUS wasn't that great, Sapphire and Gigabyte were clearly better. Tho I guess for that price it doesn't even matter. Great buy nonetheless, you won't regret it.
