Is there a way to reduce the render resolution on HTML pages when using 3D translations?
Especially on mobiles with Full HD resolutions the 3D accelerated transitions are not always as smooth/fast as I'd like them to be.

Limit your images. Don't know what you're working on, but just don't serve images larger than they have to be. If you're only going to display an image at 960x540 then only serve it at that resolution, preferably with some compression. Our clients still upload their 5 meg originals, visitors only get served a tiny 100 KB version, courtesy of our image resizing services
With 3D accelerated I assume you already triggered GPU acceleration via translateZ?

It doesn't matter what the size of the background images are, it's not fluid enough. The page isn't complex either and I don't use any shadows or other gimmicks :/

Shadows are gimmicks?
BTW, can you post an example of a page?

Yes, let me just create some generic data to fill it. I won't clean the code up though, this is still in a very early stage. I want to use it to hold a presentation for the colleagues and I think this will help me to have a better narrative then some stupid standard PPT template.
Yet I still have some problems in collecting valuable input for the presentation itself :/
Also some background information, maybe you guys have some ideas for me:
Our software partner releases a new version of his software, which is no longer bound to IE8 and an ActiveX Plugin running the whole application. It uses a modern HTML5 UI. Now we had some two days training which was meant to give an introduction to the UI, but most of my colleagues don't know anything about HTML and they especially have no clue about all the new and amazing things the web enables us to do. So they just copy/pasted several pages of source code from their learning pdfs into the css/js files.
But they _will_ come in contact with those technologies, latest when our customer raises a ticket and says that an agent had an error on page xyz and our analysts/developers/advisors need to take a look and understand where the error is actually coming from.
So I wanted to offer my colleagues some internal training (still thinking of the scope but it will be most likely HTML, CSS, JavaScript & jQuery) but first I have to raise some awareness. So I'll have 30 minutes in an internal call, where I can prepare a presentation for.
In this call mainly non technical persons will participate, so I have to create a nice presentation with some numbers, statistics, some eye candy and so on to gather some attention for these "new" topics. Afterwards I'll announce that I also want to offer the internal training and the more people I can capture with my presentation, the better!
Any ideas, data or stuff you'd think would fit into this sort of presentation? (I'll definitely include some "hot topics" like mobile and of course pieces and screenshots of the new user interface of the application and so on)
