Is it just me or does this seem to be the worst Xmas ever for PC Gamers?
Not just shortage of games, the quality has been lacking also.
That Demonicon game which I liked in an weird sorta way (yeah I know most humpers thought it reeked big) was about the most playable of all all the big releases this Xmas and it wasn't really a big release but it was a sizeable download & had a decent story underpinning OK gameplay.
Apart from enslaved which is an old console game ported to PC years after xbox jocks forgot its existence, I can't think of another 'playable' release since early october.
This isn 't good. Sure the greedheads who have a jackboot on the neck of the gaming industry are too busy rolling out PS ONE this "festive season" I reckon they hope PC gaming will curl up & die on someone else's dime.

Ha ha, even they seem to be in retro mode. The indie producers may not be making as many sequels of sequels of sequels as the AAA gangs, but most do seem to be concentrating on the rearview mirror with their dedication to aping 80's & 90's "Classic Hits".

Busy spending millions on recording the epitome of no talent, the execs were too stupid and greedy to know this, they based their judgements almost entirely on "what we know 'the kids' like to buy"
'Cept the kids didn't buy their shit they revolted and went with original if somewhat incompetent sounds that didn't sound like something they had heard somewhere before.
I suspect I'm not gonna be particularly attracted to the gaming equivalent of "Never Mind the Bollocks" or "Ramones" but the equivalents of "Rattus Norvegicus"https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rattus_Norvegicus_%28album%29 , Germfree Adolescents
holds considerable appeal.
I just hope the revolt happens soon & on a PC, not in a decade on some over restrictive, mass monitored content delivery device.
This year in general hasn't been exactly epic for us; the most promising games have been pushed forward to 2014/15, we got tons of shoddy ports, bugged PC exclusives, watered down reboo's and disappointments.
We're left with a handful of good games and some nice (rare) surprises here and there. Nothing too remarkable though

This is why being a "fanboy" is lame because fanboys refuse to enjoy all platforms that provide great games. Personally i am and always was a PC gamer first and foremost..that being said though...i also enjoy console gaming as well. Just because consoles cannot achieve uber sexy resolutions and AA does not mean there is no fun to be had on consoles and besides..Next Gen Consoles is here! And this holiday season is going to be pretty damn exciting with the new consoles finally here.
You see my point is...while some of you fanboys refuse to be excited about "next gen" consoles this CHRISTMAS SEASON...some of us other "Gamers" will be enjoying BOTH pc gaming and next gen console gaming this Holiday season. Yes it sucks to be a PC fanboy this XMAS season as the OP put it.
Fortunately for those of us that have a TRUE PASSION for gaming will be in UTTER BLISS this Holiday/XMAS season!! Not only will be enjoying a few next gen console ports on our great gaming rigs..but we'll also be enjoying a few next gen console exclusives!! And yet..there is much more coming this next spring as well for BOTH PC and next gen consoles.
So while i absolutely cannot stand fanboys because to me they are not what i consider a true passionate gamer..i always love to speak truth in the matter in threads like this.
OP and any other PC fanboys..get some sense in your domes! There is some great gaming to be had this XMAS season on both PC and next gen consoles.
I personally will be sticking with my current gaming PC and a Playstation 4....yes i might be a minority these days here at NFOhump but before many of you were even here, even some of the current mods, back in the day at the old NFOForce there were much more level headed PC gamers that appreciated both PC AND CONSOLE SYSTEMS. It seems the world is getting more closed minded...what a shame.
Oh by the way...you would be surprised how many gamers that enjoy both PC and Consoles are much older than you realize. I am in my 30's and i am excited like a kid with my PS4 preorder about to be fullfilled Next Gen Killzone, NBA 2k14 cannot get here soon enough! Heck just opening up that brand spanking new PS4 system out of the box is going to be a blast hehe

i do remember better years, much better years, but in the other hand, i still have so many games to play from last year + some of this year, so even if it will be weak, it will
become indistinct to me with all the games in the list to play
Hmmm... I'll probably be playing Gothic II by the time XMAS is here (if I don't end up deleting my saves like I did yesterday with Gothic 1 ) so no.
Judging from what I've seen so far and by what people comment about Gothic II... it will be an awesome XMAS

So, I've opened my XBMC to check out how many movies I haven't watched yet and guess what, it's a staggering number of 760+ movies and the list keeps growing every week if not day.
It doesn't include dvdrips/dvds mind you, only HD.
If they keep their anticipated schedule, then Star Citizen's dogfighting module will go live late December. That would make a nice present and save my Christmas at least.

Do we really need a thread for this? It seems we have at least one of these every year along with 'Ah man, January sucks.....no quality releases this month.' Which happens every year after the last decent games come at the end of the year.
