Denmark, Finland, New Zealand, Sweden, Singapore, Switzerland, Australia, Norway, Canada, Netherlands, Iceland and Luxembourg are least corrupt... well, pretty much those few countries I view as AAA countries (except Finland). The only country im surprised isn't there is Germany and Belgium.

There isn't corruption in Belgium! Cool Face

Tho in all honesty, how naive I may sound to some. Corruption isn't that big of a deal in Belgium. Sure there is some like there is everywhere, but nothing large scale or truly worrisome.

Maybe because I base my view on other countries.

A place without people trying to scam you all the time, where you can happily leave your door unlocked and your car turned on, where welfare is top-notch and being unemployed is like winning the lottery..man that would be so boring!

Deelix why take the above as a fact? -

Wiki wrote:

Because corruption is wilfully hidden, it is impossible to measure directly; instead proxies for corruption are used.
Media outlets frequently use the raw numbers as a yardstick for government performance, without clarifying what the numbers mean. The local Transparency International chapter in Bangladesh disowned the index results after a change in methodology caused the country's scores to increase; media reported it as an "improvement". Other critics point out that definitional problems with the term "corruption" makes the tool problematic for social science.
Many lawyers advise international businesses to consult the CPI when attempting to measure the risk of Foreign Corrupt Practices Act violations in different nations. This practice has been criticized, since the CPI may be subject to perceptual biases and therefore should not be considered by lawyers to be a measure of actual national corruption risk.

Oh Dom Rep... the only country where the government institution in charge of analizing each institution's finance detects a mayor spending over US$500,000 in food and over 600,000 to "contracts" to people who deny working on it, having his son (the mayor's son) working in his same institution and paying him duplicate checks on the payroll (double salary), being the case full public on the media and still manage to ignore the justice, hell he hasnt even been mentioned or called to explain. He just said he didnt spend a dime.

I think the whole stress i live in my daily life comes from reading shit like this. Oh Canada... ur so blue... Neutral

Then so are Denmark, Belgium and Germany, too. Belgium has more suicides and DK/DE consumes more alcohol. Razz

I read somewhere that 86% of people above 18 years old drinks in Denmark. Danes and Germans are known for drinking lots of beer (not saying that is good) but the image we got of Finns is that they drink vodka till the last drop Very Happy Im not sure, but I think most Danes are able to drink in moderation just like Norwegians. Then again im not sure... we have to, because its so god damn expensive, and it works. I don't like it... but it works. If you pay 120 NOK for 6x0.5L tuborgs you don't drink that often
I do like Finland the best in "Scandinavia and the world" tho Very Happy

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The major problem about drinking in Denmark is the age you get introduced to it and the level of consumption that young teenagers partake in. We are world leaders in teenage drinking, i think. I almost never drink but I drank a shitload from 14 to 20 years of age and everyone I knew did as well.

Yeah, I don't agree with the 16yo agelimit. I know they can't buy vodka anymore... but 16.5% is still enough to get pretty wasted. And those 16yo probably have 14yo friends... so yeah, not a good thing.

Yeah Finland has a similar youth drinking culture as Denmark, but it's not like the adults are any better. Here it's pretty common to get wasted before you hit the town for an all-night bender. Laughing
