This is a working version. Tested from DVDR on 3 systems and working on all 3 and also working on the HD from all 3.

If I try to run it through the dash it just hangs. If I boot up with the game inside then it will work.

Apparantly if you have a PAL xbox use ConfigMagic to set it to Region 1 and it should work.

whats this like on the xbox, i have played this on the cube and find the ps2 version graphics are a bit of a let down. They are not terrible but you can definately tell the difference

I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

Perhaps pasting the exact EvoX settings here would be useful, as I can't get it to work, HDD or DVD, tried witching EvoX game region to North America (NTSC), Auto and it won't work. Also tried switching video region to NTSC. Still doesn't work so maybe the exact settings would be good!

Using a PAL XBOX here in case you couldn't guess.

I got it to work by powering up with the dvd in the drive (instead of loading Evox first then loading the game),so basicly it wont work off HDD or if I load the dvd from Evox itself.

Xbox is NTSC w/ X2 4983.06 bios

AMD X2 4800+ / 2GB Corsair XMS PC3200
EVGA 7800GTX 512mb
X-Fi / Logitech Z5500's
24" Sony GDM-FW900 Widescreen CRT
720GB Total HDD space.

EDIT: or we might get lucky and some gent will rls a patch or fix for it..

But i am happy, they work for at least some of the EURO xbox users!

Hope someone with debugging experience will try to get the extra region checking location in the xbe located and patch it (Just setting the bits in the xbe did not work, so i guess there is an additional check somewhere!).

Pal xbox, tried NTSC+PAL+TSR in xbox settings, direct boot with dvdr in on startup or from evox, just keeps going around in cirles and resetting.

oh well - of to grab the ps2 version, and wait for a *real* *proper* *proper*

this is where i'm confused, in configmagic it says region 4 which is PAL, i understand i have to change this to Region 1 like you and dryan says.

console is set to ntsc with video enigmah switch, and in xbox settings its on NTSC, yet configmagic shows Region 4 (PAL) - this is the problem.

how do i change this, do i unlock the HD and change settings cos everywhere i read that this settings must match EEPROM. in my case pal machine

I suggest you keep it the way it is now!

Reason: It has to be matching the settings of your box as far as i know!

The trick with evox is probably working around it in memory, meaning the report from hardware about the territory/region (not be confused with the display settings) is probably intercepted and returned to the xbe in a way it wants to see it.. Only guessing but as long as no one can realy tell me what the evox software does, its my best guess..

Another thing is the dvd dongle i guess most of us have plugged in. A reason i could think of, why this game with the evox settings done does not work for all euro xbox users MAY be, that the region saved in combination with the dongle is preventing some from starting the game. *Another wild guess though*
I have a region free dongle and so have no prob. Any comments on that?

I am a little disapointed from all the people knowing this stuff and not sharing their info or at least provide a patch here.. Dont they read these boards? I dont think so.. Or maybe? Crying or Very sad

OK I got this to work but I fucked with so many settings and tried so many combinations I have no idea how I did it. I'll post again when I figure which specific settings you have to have to get it working on a PAL xbox.

By the way, changing EEPROM didn't do any harm to my xbox.

OK, you have to use Enigmah video mode switcher to switch your xbox to NTSC. You also need to use EvoX to set Game Region to Auto and TSR to Debug.

EDIT: You also have to change your EEPROM to Region 1 using Config Magic. It lets you edit the whole string but you just need to change the number.

TSR Normal works too and EEPROM change was not needed for my pal xbox. As we found out on another site, setting video output to letterbos or normal in ms dashbord is NEEDED to get it working. I have default letterbox mode so did not see this connection before now. widescreen is NOT working.

No word if widescreen is supported on NTSC consoles till now..

I have set evox up to ntsc, had TSR on debug/Disabled/normal
Changed to letterbox and Normal through msdashboard and still doesn`t work.

Ooops rechecked and TSR was on normal set to Debug and Voila.

A tutorial by a friend of mine, a surefire tried & tested method, use completely at your own risk however:

Getting SMB running on a Pal Xbox.

WARNING THIS COULD DAMAGE YOUR XBOX. TRY AT OWN RISK.

Needed :-

Config Magic
Engima Vid Mode Switch
Super Monkey Ball.
Patience

put the 2 xbox utils on your xbox. first load Engima vid app.
put it into ntsc mode. then reset. dont need to confirm. just make sure says ntsc at the top and reboot.

load config magic.
press start
backup files
unlock hd
edit eeprom on the fly
change ONLY the regon settings. from NTSC regon 4 to NTSC reagon 1
press start
goto update eeprom
press start. goto lockhd

WARNING. EXPLOITED XBOX NEEDS A HD TO BE LOCKED. IF YOU CANNOT LOCK THE HD. THEN RESTORE A BACKUP AND TRY AGAIN.

Good luck....

Haha my thoughts exactly danscott.
Seriously guys, dont do things that involve taking a risk just for a damn game, nothing is worth that and especially not if you end up having a broken piece of hardware. Smile
