ASUS welcomes a new era of PC customization by being the first motherboard brand to support 3D-printable parts, an initiative that allows hobbyists, enthusiasts and modders to add unique modifications to their ROG Strix X99 Gaming and ROG Rampage V Edition 10 motherboards. These boards feature easily swappable parts, enabling passionate DIYers to design and 3D-print their own replacement name plates and logos in a variety of colors and materials to match their themed builds. This exciting development brings a whole new world of personalization to the DIY PC experience.
Pretty much my thoughts, people over on OCN are eating it up. I guess if you so modding someone could come up with something cool, but outside that, meh
Eh, it's a fun thing to do if the case itself is something cool. Like taking an item and making it into a case, etc..
But this is less about case modding and more about just stupid bullshit. This is catering to the 'PRO L33T GAM3R' DOTA/CS crowd that like shit like this.. for some reason.
PS DOTA and CS suck and lost their charm when they became something more then just mods.
I enjoyed Dota 2 for the few hundred hours I put into it but then it started getting so popular people who just suck at games started playing it and getting matched up with them just ruins the fun since you're "stuck" in a game for about an hour, then the community just....good lord it's worse than the counterstrike community.
I assume people mod cars, bikes etc. to show off to other people. I'd understand modding a case to get better cooling/airflow and whatnot, but I never understood lights and shit. Not saying people modding their cases are idiots, I just don't understand the point of it.
Well, I sometimes do all the lights and "cool" shit just for show casing so when I get a new customer for a custom system I use it as a portfolio of what can be done.
Like that big bad ass watercooling system I did about 4 years ago. That's gotten me a lot of business.

I'd say you show them off on LAN parties. But these are sadly history nowadays...
