A new show from AMC "Low Winter Sun" will be premiering on AMC this summer. Given the shows that AMC has: Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The Killing, Hell on Wheels. I have my hopes pretty high for this one. They say it's like a cross between The Wire and Breaking Bad.
A contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred, Low Winter Sun begins with the murder of a cop by a fellow Detroit detective. Seemingly the perfect crime, in reality the murder activates forces that will forever alter the detective’s life, and pull him into the heart of the Detroit underworld.
while i do love mark strong and lennie james, the plot has this been-there done-that cop-show drama vibe going for it... seems pretty standard, so i doubt id go out of my way to watch it...

As in if I happen to catch it on tv I might watch it, but the plot summary doesn't make me want to bother downloading it...
Alright, so I caught the pilot last night after the breaking bad premiere...
Not sure how I feel yet really. I think the show has huge potential... but maybe they are trying a bit too hard right now, I think they are trying to be the next breaking bad, but honestly I don't think anyone can fill those shoes just yet. Will keep watching for now

Exactly my feelings. Though I don't think tyhey're trying to be a Breaking Bad, even though the Agnew character seems to be a good guy who isn't used to doing bad things and might start progressively acquiring a taste for it in the future, especially under the influence of this shady Geddes character.
But oh well, I normally give a show at least 3 episodes so I can decide if I go on or I ditch it
Actually I hope they will improve on it significantly! Otherwise I might not stay with it till the end of the season
We didn't see half of what Strong and James are capable of with their acting. But they need good material to work with of course.
Though I admit I might be a bit unfair and it's just a matter of letting the story unfold. It wouldn't be the first time and it's very common with really good tv shows.
I think it's too early to say if it's a good tv show and I think it's also too early to say the writing is mediocre or not. I agree that the second episode was an improvement, so I'll give it at least 1-2 more episodes so I know fi it gets its own folder on my hdd.
