Hey guys I got a weird problem with my dvd-drive. Whenever I try to make an audio cd using nero; my dvd drive uses the maximum speed. Normally you have the option of lowering or just choosing your speed. But I can't do it, I tried several programs(nero 7, windows media player, alcohol 120) and in every program I can't chose the writing speed.

This only happens when burning a cd, when I burn a dvd I can chose the speed I want. So anyone has any idea what the hell the problem is? My dvd drive is LG GH24NS90. I see in the specifications that its cd burning speed is 48x, isn't there a way to lower that?

Do you have the latest firmware installed? http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-GH24NS90 (double check that is the correct firmware for your drive)

You can use this to check the current FW version http://www.samsungodd.com/eng/firmware/fwvercheck/fwvercheck.asp
