It just seems so damn unbelievable, but it worked. Last friday, my GPU (GTX470) started to give BSOD, while doing some work at autocad. Google suggested that it was driver related problem. It felt kind of obvious, since I was able to boot into safe mode, but not into Windows itself. Cleared drivers with driver sweeper, reinstalled new ones, rebooted...and again BSOD. Just a moment before the log-in screen should pop up the BSOD came...again..and again. Last resort was clean Windows install. Everything went well, until Windows update installed display drivers. BSOD came back. After that I took my computer totally apart, cleaned every last piece of dust out of it, applied new thermal paste. Removed all the RAM, and left only one stick to the slot - BSOD. Tryed all the slots with different sticks - BSOD. Then somehow found out about that baking method.
Took everything off from GPU, placed foil-paper to the cooking tray, preheated oven to 200C and in it went. For 10 mins. Girlfriend probably thought that I`m totally messed up finally. Took it out, placed to the windowsill to cool down, reapplyed all the parts and pieces to GPU, put it back to PC and started it up. BAM BSOD was gone. Updated my Windows to latest updates and drivers since it was a clean version and everything worked fine. Made few gameing sessions and stress tests and all seem to work. Felt like a damn MacGyver for the rest of a day. One of the best Christmas presents ever Very Happy

agreed, best be looking for a new card..definately a band aid fix. I do go far to not buy new stuff, but would not be putting stuff in the oven. Glad it worked for ya. My GTX460 sli's are still working just fine, but would never imagine cookin em.

Probably the most expensive meal in that oven. Very Happy
If it lasts 1-2 months, then I`m more than happy. Have thoughts for a upgrade a long time. But since I leased my first car, then I have had to pushed it forward.

I did this with a 280 GTX, worked again for a month or so, then failed again.

rebaked it worked again for a while then died again, then got a new one lol.

Might use it as an underclocked dedicated physx card someday it should probably be ableto handle that lol
