Actually is $80 more expensive LOL

260 pounds roughly is around $420?

i5-3570K is $220 and ASUS P8Z77-V LX is $120= that comes out to $340..
Unless you folks in UK has some crazy higher prices

Don't... just don't...lol

Trouble with UK prices is they include VAT at %20. So you can add £50 immediately to that price. Then there's the fact the exchange rate is different when buying or selling currency, and this is usually reflected in the UK price too.

So sadly no, it's about right. And I can't even buy it from the US as I'll have to pay ridiculous import taxes and freight costs.

No, actually it's not that special

260 pounds is around 320€

The 3570K can be had for around 200€ and the ASUS P8Z77-V LX is on the cheaper side of ASUS Z77 line and costs from 90€ upwards. (In germany, source geizhals.at)

But considering shipping is free its not the worst offer, just nothing special.

Well I just did some googling, and I can't find it much cheaper TBH, maybe £10 less, and thats not including delivery.

Remember I HAVE to buy from the UK to avoid import taxes. I welcome anyone able to find it cheaper Razz

Not to rub it in, but in US this is a regular price. You can find a MB+CPU combo for around $175 on frequent sales.

To be fair that works out to £133.7, which is only £10 less than I can get it for. So I still don't see how I personally can get it any cheaper.

Does it really make sense to get a K cpu with an H61 chipset? AFAIK those chipsets dont allow overclocks by multiplicator, so a K intel cpu is wasted money. If you are low on cash better geta cheaper i5 2500K with a P67/Z67 mobo.

£245.80 must be the best price for a better-than-dirt cheap system I can find. From WAE+ (never heard of them, but they are not crap apparently).

Better than £269 Laughing I'm stubbornly sticking to the i5 because it has HD4000 graphics, which are surprisingly good (watch Youtube and someone playing GTA IV on the exact same chip - it's better than my current system!). It'll be perfect tillI can afford a proper card.

Right, Thanks for your help folks, much appreciated Very Happy

Yes it will, since it double your memory bandwith. No reason to cheap out on the memory since its dirt cheap these days (2x 4GB is sweetspot these days).

Yes, fast memory and bandwith is especially important if you are going to use the Intel 4000 gfx.
