that we were working on, but pretty sure other guy burned it first and I just finished hiis job properly  (he was complaining about not being able to upload the code so I took it home to work on it) $150 down the drain
first of all, I was unable to upload program to the microcontroller, kept getting sync issues, so fuck, 4 formats later, i decided to use older version of program, and it worked, go figure.
so i decided to try it, connect the cable, things light up, but servos are not moving, wtf, maybe connected wires wrong, so I switch around and I guess I applied total voltage via Vin pin instead 5V which acts as regulator, before i realized there is smoke coming out of everywhere, not sure what burned,
so there is that, final presentation for the comittee is sheduled in about 2-3 weeks

Wtf I thought you managed to fix it after the last format..that sucks
Is it a mission impossible to do a complete check-up and try to repair/change the broken parts?

i dont know, i bet we will have to buy new arduino uno + motor shield for sure..
but here the kicker, i already bought arduino uno today but I fucked it up as well, kinda ashamed to admit it
I guess I should add another $40 to it already

Told you to drop the booze while doing stuff like this but noooooooooooooo...  
I think the first and last thing I ever burned for a school/uni project was a cheap-ass voltmeter, around 10 years ago.

Two years ago I managed to lose all the copies of the ~50 pages .pdf containing the marketing plan from our group..fortunately I still had the email into the bin, but I was this close >.< to getting lynched. xD |

I saved another dude's wrongly deleted final uni project using Restoration, he was all

Last year we were preparing a demonstration of our company's platform to show on a Nurnberg fair (ARM + Android + a MCU + I wrote the library for sending commands from Android app to the MCU which was doing real-time communication with external interfaces). We were working several months overtime doing the software and fixing the drivers (it was all new to us back then), and hardware guys were fetching the components (it had an onboard touchscreen among other things), finishing the PCB and doing all the testing.
Our demo had some rocket launchers which you could drive from the application, there were photo sensors behind targets which the app read to calculate the score, it looked very neat and was fun to play. We barely finished in time, literally a night before the fair, I went home at 4 AM and a small team went to Germany that very morning.
And you know what happened? A technician who made one of power supply extension cables accidentally switched voltage and ground, and when they hooked the board at the fair, it just went dead
So we did all for nothing, the board was just sitting there turned off and looking high-techy, but they could only talk marketing gibberish to potential customers
That technician is a really great guy and knows his job, but that accident fucked up everything, that's what you get when you are finishing stuff minutes to midnight...

We have been working on out since last semester, started around mid April/May.
The entire project worked, we even show it to our professor about 3 weeks ago. She told us to work it , to make it work better with the sensor.
It was all fine until 2 weeks ago, we started uploading different version of the code that I was writing and trying to make it more better and responsive with the sensor. And not sure what happened at some point.
That problem with Arduino stuff is really everywhere, I google around the error we have been getting but frankly none of it it's any supportive and information is just crap, it's either did you select correct board in options or the com port matches le_sigh. some people suggest to burn a bootloader again but for that I need additonal equipment which I do not have, nor it will probably get on time and some of them are above $50. Simply better off buying new board.
Also our team leader ordered all those parts from China, before even consulting with us to save on costs and it's well know especially with Ardunio boards from China are simply fucking terrible knock-offs. I would rather spent some $$$ to get legit boards from supplier here in USA. Even if we want to return it to Hong-Kong, it would take 2-3 weeks, ship it back would take same time.
I must say Arduino has pretty amazing stuff and fun to work it but, but their support is completely non-existant.
