|
 |
I work at a gas station and while most customers are quite normal, I figured I should open a thread to complain about (or just mention) the weird ones. It's bound to be amusing to some
Some of the weird customers I can deal with. For example, there's one guy who likes to make robot noises while paying (upon moving his arm to line up the bankcard, etc). A bit weird, but amusing.
And then there are the funny ones. Like a regular who is always a bit high. Once, he went to the toilet, and asked another customer who walked in after him; "would you like to watch how I pee?". The other customer came by to complain about him afterwards, but I was too busy laughing to take the complaint seriously. Don't think he appreciated that too much
You also have the less bright ones (or they just troll me, but I doubt it). Who ask for a pack of cigarettes, I ask them which size to which they say "the middle one" when there are 4..
Or when they want to PIN and try to use the swiping method, which has been replaced with the chip system ages ago. That part I can live with, but after I explain they have to use the chip in the other slot, and they try sticking the chip in the swiping section of the machine, I just can't help but facepalm...
However, the guy that came by yesterday was just disturbing. He must have been in his 40s, maybe 50 (I'm 27). He comes over to pay, looks at me, and says in a creepy tone of voice; "My, you've got a nice face" (in dutch: "Jij hebt een mooi koppie zeg").
Totally weirded me out and only managed to reply saying something like "uhm.. thanks... I guess?". Luckily, he left without saying anything else. I'd be fine with it if it'd been a woman saying that, but nope, it had to be an older guy
Anyone else work(ed) in a store and can relate?

Nice, now you have a fan to fill you... airbag lol
Ive never had any weird people when i was in service of people in my job.
Once i had a fat lady, old too, who used to wear a LOOOTTTT of makeup i mean fucking clown like, she was really nice but dumb as hell, i had to explain things each day and she never learned them even after doing it with me all alone....
and once i had my headphones on, some client came in. collapsed in front of the door and i didnt notice, he had a heart atack, afterwards some friends came telling me i had killed someone, and it was like 10 feet away from me, i didnt notice....
but no weird people for me, people here are usually pretty showy off and they tend to act smart and casual.

Oh yeah,i worked in a lot of stores before/during university and weird things happend every day.
Like one regular customer (guy in his 60's) that buys Milk for Cats every day of the week but has always to ask for it.Turns out he got alzheimer and sometimes couldn't figure out how to come home from the store etc.
Or an old lady, that kindly asks if she could use the toilet (shop manager told the staff to not let anyone on our restrooms but i couldn't send that granny away).
After 5 minutes she leaves the restrooms & the store, leaving the toilet with stinky shit on the walls and the ground.Manager was pissed and cleaned everything up while cursing
Another old lady came in totally drunk,Manager told me to bring her home safely (she was living 2 blocks away or something) and,i shit you not,it took me almost 2 hours. She had to sit down every few minutes because of the alcohol.
Called one of her childs to take care of her after we finally reached the building she lived in.Sad old lady was drinking too much cause her husband died...
I came back to the store,Manager was like "what the hell took you so long".After telling the whole story i could leave early.
Man,could go on with this for ages
Met the most shitheads while working at a gas station, tho.
Drunks, junkies that couldn't behave and those "New Kids TURBO" guys that hang around the gasstation in their free time.Seriously, they woke up/came from work and meet there without leaving the place until it closes down.
Coming in 5 minutes before we had to close & buy chewing gum while going "huahuahua,we stole their time, gnihihihih"

Heheh, that's exactly why I made the thread
Customers and toilets just don't mix. We have a free toilet at the back of the building specifically for customers, but the shit you sometimes see there.. it's not human.. HOW in the fuck do you get your shit on the walls. Seen it once, hope to never see it again, cause unlike you, I'll be the one that has to clean it (no manager/boss present, I'm usually alone).
Luckily, no new kids experience. Some 14-16 year old kids hanging around the back for a day or 2, but I got fed up with it and sent them away. Haven't seen them since.
I do hate people who come by in the last few minutes though. If they just come for a pack of cigarettes, fine.. but you also have the ones who start tanking, while taking their time on their mobile phone. I have to convince myself to not just shut the gas off and stick to turning off the ouside lights, to send a message. Usually works (but not always..).

To customer A: "Here you go, our last copy of star wars"
Customer B rushes in "Awww, do you have another copy for ME? "
...
"Sure.. let me see"
*move fingers gently over the keyboard to create sounds*
*go to the back of the office, eat some chips*
*come back, look under the desk and slide empty covers around*
Me: "Uhh, no luck this time!"
Customer B: "Dammit!"

I am deeply hurt by this. After all the time I spent tracking you down and transporting myself all over to your work place just to give you a compliment about your face you give me that half assed response and you insult and bitch about me in here?
Dude, very low. I will never visit your gas station again!

Yo Kevin Smith - Think you´ll see that everything you need for Clerks 3 is right here.
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

Some funny shit on there, but obviously, this one caught my eye http://notalwaysright.com/trying-to-inspire-change/24861
Why in the actual fuck would he offer to pay that guy's gas. I might do so if its a few cents, that will get straightened out with the few people that don't want change, but other than that.. he put the gas in, he'd better hand over the money, or cops will be involved (or he can come back later and pay if he leaves a filled out form + passport or something else valuable, but if you are anything like that guy in the link, small chance of that happening).
And no, I don't need to be nicer to people that tank without carrying enough money, and we don't want to retain them as customers unless it's an honest mistake, in which case they'll be more cooperative, and thus, so would I. Rant over.
edit: I'm wasting too much time reading this stuff
http://notalwaysright.com/a-sad-sign-of-the-times/24852
Also very, very recognizable. People just don't read. When we have an electronic payment outage, I simply shut off all the pumps immediately and ask everyone individually. Learned the hard way as well . Many instances of the top story after each other really ruins your day..
