So, I always had this. When moving my mouse, resizing windows etc a psu was making a BUZZING noise as I dragged a window or a rectangle. It was also doing it when pc was stressed.
That was on chieftec450w.

Now... I have Corsair gaming series gs600w since friday and I am not sure, but I thought this was not an issue here until now. Turned pc today an noticed that this psu also makes buzzing noise when playing flash, dragging windows etc etc (stres)... and it's quite audiable

This is just how psu's behave right ? Or what?
I have no problems with pc since I got it friday. it works like a charm. This new psu is VERY quiet. The fan doesnt spin unless I play a demanding game. It is a corsair thingy

edit: Seems like it got quiet now. So that would mean that it makes a buzzing sound when it's not warmed up ?

You sure it's the PSU that's making the noise? Maybe it's coming from some PC speaker or something.
I used to get the noise in situations you describe (moving windows etc) when I had my headphones connected to the onboard audio and volume cranked up. It's getting interference from other components in the PC and there's obviously more stuff happening when your PC is not idling, but actually doing something.

It would have to be a relatively loud buzzing sound for me to hear it coming from the PSU, to be honest.. I don't think that's supposed to happen Smile

Just hold your ear on the chassis. That should not be too difficult to find out.

Its a Coil Whine from the PSU. And while the PSU is "Corsair" its the cheapest lineup they have, not very quality one. While that can be normal (Some GPUs whine like bitch when stressed and its completely normal) i would RMA it tho. Never save on the PSU“s man!

Usually that issue is only heard by high quality headphones when plugged to el cheapo integrated soundcard, which outputs every single background noise through them.

It's not the cheapest at all. it was 100usd.
CX series is much cheaper.
this is GS series. It looks fantastic, is quiet and suit my needs.

It seems to be a problem only when psu is not warmed up. My cheieftec was buzzing for 5 years so that's nothing to rma about, but I just wanted to know if other people experience this.

And the headphones noise you are describing could be made up by bad chasis with poor quality front audio panel. I do hear plenty static from front panel audio but nothing from rear.
That said - New case in a month

yea, some coils whine when they're cold and some when they heat up (heat expansion)
it's frustratingly difficult to locate the asshole making the noise
if it doesn't have a fan or has a big hole, take a nonconductive stick like a pencil's rubber end and push on coils
the sound pitch changes when you find it
i poured some plastic glue on mine and that fixed it
hotglue is probably not a good idea since it melts so easily

*reads again*
if your MOUSE affects it, it almost certainly is not in the PSU
it's probably a coil on your motherboard
which is good news since it's easier to locate
just go penciling
