i was ingame when the picture got corrupted, sound stopped and my pc crashed completely.
i did a hard reset.
windows could not start. (no signal after the windows loading screen)
started in safe mode - worked.
tried to start normal again - same as before.
started in safe mode again and deactivated my gpu.
started normal again - worked.
removed all nvidia drivers and installed them fresh.

tl;dr
my rig doesn't boot when my gpu is active.
i still have warranty, just wanted to be sure if there's anything to try before i send it in.

That's nearly identical to the error I got on the 6970 before it died so I'd say it's starting to fail.
You could try to underclock it but that's just delaying things, better to RMA it if there's nothing else to be done.
(Someone else may have some suggestion.)
