My boot device got screwed up last night and I let somebody borrow my perfect copy of Windows 7 and i wont get it back until Thursday. So I decided to try Windows 8 just for the hell of it........
this shit is was supposed to be more user friend and easier?? 
It takes forever to locate essential programs and do the most basic things. Even something as easy as shutting off the computer requires effort to find. You have to move your mouse to the edge of the screen (top right or bottom right only) and wait for a widget to appear, and then click on the "settings" icon, and then click on the "power" icon and then select shut down.
There is no "my computer" I had to goto control panel and create a shortcut for it. Same goes for windows update. You also do not get a list of programs that are installed. They will just appear at random on the start menu screen. The start menu is so fucking weird it takes up the whole screen. You would think itl be easier to find things since its an entire screen but nope, instead of putting more options and features, you get GIANT ASS ICONS that have NOTHING to do with what you want to open like "XBOX LIVE" or "SKYDRIVE"  FUCK YOU!
Im trying to take a screenshot but guess what, cant find the snipping tool or MS paint

Finally found MS paint via search tool So here is the stupid start menu screen...
I thought ok well I listen to "Music" perhaps it will let me link that icon to my Winamp 2.91 player. But no instead we get this:
And you cant even minimize this screen since the taskbar disappears whenever you are in one of these "Apps". The only way to exit back to desktop is putting your mouse in the bottom left corner, wait for the start menu icon to appear, click the icon which takes you back to the big start menu screen and then click "Desktop"

Just look at how random that is. I have winamp installed but it wont let me find it in the start menu screen. Instead it shows "Uninstall Winamp" lol as if I would open that more often than the actual program. I have to go out of my way to search and then create shortcuts for everything
Good thing I only have to deal with this until Thursday night but damn why change things around so much which makes it harder to navigate
Also if you plug in any new hardware, forget about it. You will never get any notification that a new hardware was found or any prompt to install drivers. You have to find device manager and manually check the status of your new hardware

Just when I thought maybe the search feature is not THAT bad...after you find the file you are looking for, you cant right click and open that directory. You have to remember the directory path and go there manually

Lol thats not my music folder. You can try it out yourself it will probably show the same exact artists. Those are the latest artists from the net. That "music" app doesn't recognize any music that is already on my HDD

Wow! Will be sticking with Windows 7 for the next 10 years....Seems they designed 8 for the tablet/console people.

Btw, did you know that all your win shortcuts work in w8? Win key + E = Explorer, Win key + R = Run etc...
and there already is a topic about how win 8 suck, you could have posted this there...

Them computer skills... 
You can't get a shitass 4gb pen and use a windows 7 disk image (something that you should always have stored on one drive) to boot and format it?
Or even fix your boot device?

Its not like I didn't have a choice. Yes I could have easily redownloaded Win7 but I wanted to take this opportunity to try Win8. Anyways I got my Win7 disk back (btw when I said windows 7 disc, I meant a burned copy that I made ). The copy is flawless though so I always use this one disc
Also the boot device could not be fixed. Not only could I not repair the OS via repair tool or safe mode, but windows would not even load, the OS got fubar. I would be stuck in dos after POST telling me my boot device is corrupt. It was beyond the point of repair. I reformatted the drive in linux and now everything is back to normal (well except Im still using windows 8)
