right - so my gf has gone deaf on her left ear. A permanent damage caused by getting bitten by a tick.

So what I'd like to know is if there is any easy way of changing everything to mono on her computer. Surely there must be a way?

Soundcard software itself?

Before there was a left and right slider in windows itself, but cannot find that.

Cheers! Last time I checked for it I couldnt find it. Ill give it a spin laters today, I sure hope it transfers all the sound from the left one to the right one and not just lower the left one.

Yeah well - sometimes they are...and sometimes not. It's never good to get bitten by one since they are quite often carrying diseases..

Unfortunately it only merely cancels out the sound in the left channel... I would consider buying a soundcard with an integrated headphone amplifier.

Take note of the PCI slot though.

Tick.

Quite common insect in Sweden unfortunately, only during the warmer peroids though, thankfully. They can carry all kinds of nasty diseases...

You could try having something intercept all DirectSound and downmixing it from stereo to mono? Almost everything uses DirectSound anyway. AC3Filter might do the trick, not sure.
