Is it possible? If so, what are the downsides?

I'm trying to build a PC around an E8200 which I had lying around the house for quite a while with no use. Found a mobo with LGA775 and DDR3, but the video card slot is a normal PCI Express x16. Also, it has Intel G41 for the chipset, which again, I could use some advice about.

Thank you in advance, and please reply, no one can supply me with reliable information.

Perfectly fine. PCI-E 1.0 x16 === PCI-E 2.x x8, so you'll lose < 1% performance.

Thank you.

Thinking of pairing it with an HD6850 and 4 gigs of DDR3 @ 1333. I would either give this system as a gift to someone or keep it as a back-up. It's just that I don't wanna spend my money on both a mobo and a vg with the risk of losing a lot of performance.
