I did some shit with Windows; basically reinstalled Windows on the same drive, so old one got moved to C:\Windows.OLD then deleted new Windows dirs and moved back old dirs to C:\. It worked, old Windows works "fine". But can't install fucking nVidia driver.
This is what I get in logs:

Ran the installer as the System user (with SysInternals -s) but that didn't help either.

Yeah, cleaned with DriverSweeper. Clean install also. The part where it installs graphic driver fails.
Doesn't matter why. The problem is I don't want a new install at this time.

I have. I had a hardware issue (due to dirt in video card) and when PC would boot, monitor would go into sleep mode. Uninstallign drivers would help, but if I install again, it worked. So late (04:00 AM) last night I reinstalled Windows thinking that would solve it. When it didn't, I took the card out and did the right thing. Then it worked with the Windows Update provided driver. Only there was small issue you see, I installed a x86 version of Windows
So either way I had to reinstall, and figured I'd just go back to my old install.

Hardware was fine, just some dust. It looked like software issue because with "Default VGA" driver, everything worked, but with nV software it would not display image.

maybe if you want fireworks, if it's that bad and you still want to fight the inevitable try some 99% rubbing alcohol, but NOTHING below 90% and frankly even 90% is a risk i won't take.

The fuck you talking about?
After cleaning, everything works - but Windows was fucked from restoring it from Windows.old. FYI, that Windows install is from 2009, so in total I installed twice the last two years. I fucked up yesterday by installing x86 because it was late and i picked the wrong dir.
