anyone have it? whether temp or long term?
i kicked the morphine i was given for my surgery early and just took the pain precisely to not get hooked too much (although at my doses and duration it would be rare) on it and not have to deal with withdrawal symptoms... but even so i have some of the symptoms, restlessness, diarrhea, and worst of all insomnia... i have work in 2 hours and i haven't slept yet... even though im super tired, i just lay there for hours on end... driving me insane... especially cause of my line of work and the fact that im not too pleasant when sleepy... sigh
anyone has it? how do you cope with it?

Trazodone and you'll wake up happy with a dry mouth and gigantic morning wood.

I have had it all my adult life, which is a frigging long time considering I am an old bastard. I have tried absolutely every over the counter 'cure' none work. Been to the docs countless times only to be told they can't or won't help.
I really feel your pain mate, its a nightmare not being able to sleep. It affects every aspect of your life, relationships, work and even affects your personality as, obviously lack of sleep makes you irritable and short tempered.
Luckily its usually only a short term thing which I hope for your sake it is. I believe where you live there are stronger over the counter remedies, in the UK we are 'nannied' so much we can only get decent stuff on prescription.
Do a bit of research on what helps others as it may help you, herbal remedies, meditation, relaxation techniques, whatever helps use it. You don't want to end up a miserable bastard like me

Just get a prescription for Trazodone, seriously, its an antidepressant but makes you dead tired.
50mg are enough to send you into the arms of morpheus.
There are no bad adverse effects (only vivid dreams and dry mouth) and dependency risk is practically nonexistant.

Too early for drugs bro... I always try to minimize drug intake as much as possible unless absolutely necessary and only when ordered by doctor.
Morphine comes from Greek word Morpheus!!!! Lol this anti depressant will send me into its arms!? U trying to make me a junkie!!???? Begone!!!!!!

Lol, its a metaphor for falling asleep. Morpheus is the greek god of dreams.
If you cant go for prescription drugs, best buy some St. Johns wort (Hypericum) and/or Valerian tea (better) and let it simmer for a while.
Drink it hot and follow with a warm cup of honey-milk.

Hmmm I have heard of that STD sounding thing before... I also use to take melatonin once in a while. I have to give this a couple days and see if symptoms go away on their own. If not then I'll have to resort to chemicals.

Weed, if 100% indica does help a lot but I doubt MAD_MAX333 could or even wants to take it.
Its not an option if you work in LE, and if you're caught with THC in your blood/urine its bye-bye to the job.
Melatonin is also a possible remedy indeed.
Max, you do realize that both Hypericum and Valeriana are herbs?

I do, why? Cause I said chemicals? Technically they are broken down to their chemical level to become pill!!!! Stop trying to trick me!!!!! Opium is also a plant extract!!!!!
And no weed lol I tried smoking it once in high school and coughed so bad, no idea how people smoke and I don't do drugs anyway my dad and brother are both addicts, I can't risk the stuff, brother started from weed once a week... Then few times a week then bunch then opium and now crystal meth. Hah!

I was talking about tea, made from dried herb leafs, not pills.
Yes, weed is the first and introductory step into the hellish circle of drug addiction, only prayer can help those poor souls now.
The war on drugs must be won.

Get a nagging girlfriend with a troubled past. You'll wake up every morning. But then you won't sleep

Try exercising at least 3 hours prior to going to bed. Really wear out your body. I run between 4 and 5 miles a day, and when i skip my workout, I really feel it when i try to sleep. Also try drinking warm milk or as a last resort, eat a big meal with a lot of carbs/protein/fat. (The last solution sucks because you will gain weight). Exercise is the best method to try first, but don't do it JUST before going to sleep. You want to give your body time to wind down also.

When I can´t sleep I put on Big Trouble in Little China works every time - shit so bad my mind numbs. Or for the ironic insomniac put on Insomnia (new or norwegian one).
There are two kinds of people I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures, and the Dutch.

I have had insomnia and it's due to stress. Not being able to find a decent job after finishing two universities, not being able to pay the bills, and constant family problems keeps me awake 24/7.
The problem with me is that as soon as i close my eyes, I can't stop thinking about my problems and disappointments in life... The only time i can sleep is when I'm exhausted from not sleeping for a day or so, and yet i wake up after 5-6 hours. It sucks. I think this is all because my parents are useless, and never supported me. All my friends who didn't even study have a better life than me because their parent's supported them, provided them with opportunities.
Anyway, the cause of my insomnia is stress. I think it's important to identify the cause, then you can find a solution to it. In my case, a decent job that will pay the rent, that's all i need.
