I have a 22'' iiyama flatscreen, for almost 6 years now and I'm very happy with it.
There is no single bad pixel and apart from a slightly reduced brightness the picture is still flawless.
However I noticed a loud clicking sound that comes from it, especially after it turned off but also during operation.
It was always like that but at the beginning it was extremely rare and silent.
The frequency and volume of it increased over the years and it reached a state where it is really loud now and happens around 20 times a day.
I'm just wondering what exactly is causing this and if this is a sign of failure in the near future. Should I be on the lookout for a new one?
I'd want to get a 24''+ with 3d vision screen next.

Throw it out - it's about to hatch! You do not want to see what comes out..

I am not sure what kind of a clicking sound you hear, but it could be just some components reacting to temperature changes. I normally hear such things on TV though (if someone has his TV under direct sunlight, for example, which causes stuff to expand and you get an occasional loud click/crackling sound; or if ambient temps are relatively cold, you get the reverse effect after it's been on for some time).

What you describe sounds a little more severe though Smile

Do you hear it all the time during operation? It can be as simple as components expanding because they get too hot, but it also could be high voltage arcing. If it's as frequent as you say, I doubt it's just expansion due to heat. If you're lucky it's just dust collected in the monitor causing voltage arcs, you can open it up and clean the inside and see if that helps. If you're unlucky there's something wrong with the insulation and it's dying.
Other options are that you live in a tropical jungle and the air is just too damp, or you might've poured water into the monitor. I hope that is not the case.

Ok, thanks for the replies.
I guess its the dust explanation that is most fitting, since I havent cleaned it in ages.
Cant be that severe since its clicking for years now and I never had any problems.
The click is similar to the ones of CRT screens but it sounds a little higher and is confined to a smaller area at the top.
It happens mostly after shutting off, a few times during operation, esp. when I accidentaly hit the table with the knee and it starts to wobble.
This iiyama has a horrible pedestal, the slightest vibration suffices to make it wobble like jell-o.
