Im looking for a guitar game that can import any midi or tab (like Synthesia for piano/keyboard), or something. I like Rocksmith, but i want to play the songs i like, not the ones released...

So does anyone know of a game/software that could make it more fun learning tabs?

Thanks!

guitar pro is imo much easier than rocksmith. U do have to know an ounce of music theory (rhythms at least) or u could just remember the note durations by ear.

Rocksmith 2014 is pretty great when it comes to basics because of the guitar lessons that they added.
But if you want something more than Guitar Pro it is but as kazemaky wrote you need to know a little bit already. And it isn't overwhelming, it's pretty easy but it won't tell you if you are playing it right and hitting the notes correctly.

@Phil2003 - a great forum with many good songs for Rocksmith made by fans :
http://www.smithyanvil.com/

There are videos of fan-made songs for Rocksmith (the first version, not 2014 but they work OFC) so you can see for yourself wether they are good.

Examples :

Cheers, mate Smile
A few days ago an iron maiden songs pack dlc has been released btw. Don't know wether you like metal stuff or not.
The thing that bother's me the most is the lack of 60-70's songs, especially 60's. Not enough classic rock, dammit.

Yeah, I miss the 60-70's songs. Some good Hard/Prog Rock. But I'm not good player, I just pull some strings from time to time to relax.

Yeah, i feel you man.
There is a "all dlcs included" pack on yarrbay for Rocksmith 1. There is also a torrent for the 2014 version with a few dlcs, not the iron maiden pack though.
You can just put the dlcs in the dlc folder for the game and rocksmith will recognize it. There is a tool for that - mentioned in the torrent's description.

I haven't played 2014 yet but im relieved the difficulty can be changed manually because it was bugging me.

Thanks for the link, though my prob is that i mostly want to play songs that
are not available. Right now for example id love to play some Hendrix, but i couldnt find any custom dlc. There is for RB3, which i have, but you need that midi guitar for RB3...

You can find them all for Guitar Pro - it's not really hard to use at all so don't be intimidated by its GUI. First thing to do is disable those pesky notations and leave only the sweet, sweet tabs. Very Happy

There is All Along The Watchtower (live version i think) only from what i recall. Like i said - too much Kings Of Leon and other post-90's bullshit for me and not enough of the good classic stuff Sad

As for Guitar Pro - it's great as there are tabs for ALMOST everything (as long as you want to play popular songs by popular bands). Try to find all Izzy Stradlin's tabs or Deep Purple's :/
Also - even with RSE soundbanks guitar pro doesn't really sound THAT good as Rocksmith does.

But both are useful, not only for beginners.

Trying to find every song of every artist is of course futile, but most of Deep Purple's songs are available. The good ones, anyway. Razz

Bitch pls Razz
I can't remember now what i was but i was pretty frustrated. Usually my taste goes parallel with the best songs but not always i guess.

Anyway, we should be thankful that it is possible to play with a band (even if its virtual) without being in a band Smile

why don`t you learn some songs with lick libraries or go to justinguitar.com, he is a great teacher. Then if you know the song download the backing tracks on guitarbackingtrack.com, play along and you feel like a real guitarist.

Tabs + mp3 = win

No need for GPro and it's robotic midi way to play songs.

Well, HubU post is just to stir shit up but still the best way to learn the guitar properly is to start with a classical guitar with nylon strings. It's hard and if you're still not discouraged then you can skip onto the acoustic or electric guitar. I did that, just because i had a classical guitar for starters. I always recommend it to anyone who's starting.
Somehow, i think it's very good. I think that's maybe because you stress your left hand (fingers) the most and it will help you later on.

@deadpoetic - true, but in guitar pro it's easier to repeat the fragments you want (sure with some editing it's possible with mp3 but it's more complicated that that).

Let's just agree that playing the guitar is fucking awesome, especially when playing some great shit like Rock'n'Roll by Led Zeppelin. I almost always play this song when setting up my amps.
