It's open-world single-player space-combat, roleplaying, exploration and economic game. The player is a space captain who can seek out fortune and glory however they choose.
As far as the combat goes, think Frozen Synapse, BUT you can additionally control the ships in real-time, if that makes any sense.

It's taking the Minecraft route, ie pay for alpha now and get the full version for free. It's 10 bucks now, 20 bucks for the full version.
for a moment there, when you said "roleplaying, exploration, economic game where you seek out your fortune and glory however you choose" i was instantly thinking how cool a game like this could be if it was massively multiplayer.
build a huge mining operation, or perhaps you wish to build a protection force for other players, or perhaps you want to be a pirate, or join the military... man that would be cool.
but single player... guess we'll have to see if theres enough exploration to make the game interesting
yeah freelancer was awesome, i loved it, it was wicked fun and i wish they had made another one. and while we're wishing for shit that'll never happen, another descent freespace game plz.

looks pretty cool from TB's wtfis of it, i think i'm gonna wait until they fix that archaic interface though, looked pretty difficult if not impossible to finely control all of your ships.
Bought a couple of days ago, the campaign has a great Mount & Blade feel to it. Some rather glaring issues with it though (no way to speed up time for one).
