q9400 3.4ghz
3gb ddr2
260gtx 1gb
610watt enermax

was wondering if it's worth upgrading my gpu to let's say 570gtx over my old 260gtx?

While I doubt you'll see double "or more" FPS (I didn't even see that from a 4870 to my GTX570 and the 4870 is mostly on par but in somethings slightly faster than the GTX260) I would also have to go ahead and agree that a GPU upgrade would yield you fantastic results.

Weeeeeeell... you could swap the ~300€ that you'll be spending on a GTX570 and get an i5-2500K + mobo + 4GB DDR3.

And then get a new GPU further ahead this year whenever nvidia releases their stuff which will hopefully bring down some prices on the previous generations of cards.

Underclocked and not with 100% scaling.

In reality, a 570 is between 60% and 80% faster than a 260.

Would be a good upgrade nonetheless, but you need to overclock that Q9400 a bit Smile

Depends on the game really.
In crysis you will see double for one.

At least i assume so, as i didn't lose all that much coming from SLI GTX 280 cards in crysis to a single 570.

And Crysis gave around 100% scaling on my 280's.

Either way...GO GO GO!
Or don't as the price of a GTX 570 should be pushed down considerably in the coming weeks as new cards arrive.
