From the link:
Quote:
"In news that is certain to go down well with a certain section of our regular users, George Lucas has revealed that he is “retiring” from the business of making blockbusters, and will instead focus on more personal filmmaking. The quote comes from an interview with the New York Times in which Lucas describes the difficulties he encountered in getting WW2 drama Red Tails made, and how he couldn’t find anyone to distribute a more epic, straight-laced version of the script"

Halelulja, praise the lord!!! Maybe some other hack director can continue ruining star wars in the future Very Happy[/quote]

I'm one of those who immensely enjoyed the SW movies when I watched them as a child but now, after all these years.. I really don't find them attractive anymore. I guess it's a natural process Razz

Imagine my pain, Ixigia, I never watched the star wars movies. Then one day I decided to play KOTOR, the hot new game everyone was talking about. On the one side, I knew it was SW, and even though I never watched them, I had enough of the SW toy commercials and shit, so that was a minus. But it was a BioWare game - and that's a huge plus (good old times, eh?).

So I played KOTOR, thought it was an amazing game, even if not among the greats, but still amazing. So I downloaded all the available SW movies and watched them in the hopes of them being something on the level of kotor.. I think episode 2 was out by then, but not sure.

Now, imagine my complete and utter disappointment. By the time the Ewoks appeared, I basically could take no more. For me, the SW universe IS only Kotor 1&2.

Oh I completely understand and I 100% agree with you, the kotor games give a much more interesting look into the SW universe, definitely more suitable for an "adult" audience Smile

I think this is bad for Star Wars fans. If Lucas doesn't have other moves to toy with, he will continue to release altered versions of Star Wars. He obviously had too much spare time in the past decades, even more spare time could be disastrous.

I will always love episodes 4-6 even though 6 is ruined by ewoks. Also ep 1 was great and revenge of the sith excellent.
It was ep 2 that really ruined some of the sw magic for me. Utterly dreadful acting across the board, poorly made cgi I cant watch some scenes without cringing.

That said SW is my second favorite fictional universe after the matrix. I just hope that someone younger, a christopher nolan of star wars will be able to breath new life into SW if ep 7-9 are made in the future, theres lots of material to choose from or make up. Id love to see the Yuhzaan Vong as they're abit of an enigma in the SW universe, not believing in the herecy that is the force and shunning all form av artificial life.

I think we'll see ep 7-9 sometime in the future, just hope it wont be made in the hands of people like rick berman and brannon braga who raped star trek into a nerd feast.
