So i was browsing thru this local estore in Romania and holy cow what do i see, some cheap ass upgrade opportunities.

I basically have an Asrock N68-S mobo and 3 gigs of ddr 2 from different fathers.

For some time i felt the sistem is a little ....i dunno, stiched together with spit and sticks,it didnt feel right.I couldnt OC well, got a Phenom 2 925.

So what i got :

And

Did i do good ? The whole thing cost me about 100 bucks,do you think it was worth it fellas ? Im thinking that beastly ddr 3 is kinda neat, compared to ddr 2 800 mhz value ram

Seems like a waste of cash that should have been saved toward a complete system change.
CPU/mobo/ram at least ditching the AMD setup.

Well i didnt have the cash or the need to switch over to intel.

I mean, that would take like an additional 300-400 bucks i didnt have, and i never really had problems with my 925 and 5770 radeon,so the only waste i can see is actually switching to intel for no good reason.

Im a budget gamer, and i always tought the gpu is much more important also.

Also this new mobo supports the new FX amd's,so amd might release some good revisions in the future, who knows.

Well there should not be much gain and probably zero noticeable gain from the upgrades you have purchased other than some better overclocking potential.
Even then it's a small gain.

Was thinking that maybe the faster RAM and double HT speed would make some differences?

I also have some weird voltage issues with my n68s,the vdrop is huge when trying to OC

Also, future upgrading potential, how could i miss that, considering 4 gigs of DDR 2 (Value shit) costs more than what i payed for on that DDR 3 shtick

The ram will make a small difference.
The real difference will show in ram benchmarks, in real life usage you wont see anything so meaningful.

It's not a whole load of cash you have spent though, so it's a small price for a small upgrade.
Get back some of that money by selling your old stuff and then all is well.

Consult some people about upgrading before taking the plunge next time and you might find yourself buying parts that make a heap of change.

Well heres a quick update, instaled my new parts, and man its so cool,i dont know if its the added bandwith of the ram or procesor bus or whatever, but im getting constant framerates on Battlefield 3 at the same settings as yesterday.

Its 40 minimum frames on wake 64 where as before it would dip so low i couldnt aim.

The ram is also making my sistem snappier than before, especially after leaving memory hogs like BF 3.

I also managed to OC he Phenom 925 to 3.37,with voltage on auto,it seems to not want more than 1.45 maximum.Temps after 2 hours of Prime large FTT are 49 max on the cores.
I want to go higher but i really need a guide or some tutorial on non black edition OC's

Seems like a great upgrade so far for me Smile.

I also had some bad luck with my GPU,the screws on the fan housing broke (wtf) and the whole thing came off,so i had to use some tape to tape it back.

I also love some of the tools comming with the mobo, and Amd overdrive is nice.

Also what should i put ADVANCED CLOCK CALIBRATION on ? Auto ?Manual ? Unleashing Mode? So confused
