So I got a PS3 and it's hooked up to my monitor however my monitor doesn't have built in speakers so i'm in need of speakers to get some sound. I'm wondering if there is a fix for this or if i'm gonna have to play without sound.
If there is a fix, could you please recommend decent and cheap speakers. I'm not looking for high quality as i am just a poor student, just need something that will work
Just get any old set of cheap speakers, £5 computer speakers with a headphone 3.5mm male jack will do, use the hdmi lead from ps3 to monitor, also plug in the red. white and yellow av connecter that came with your ps3, then buy a lead with a red and white female AUX sockets on one end and a female 3.5mm headphone jack on the other and attach the ps3 sound left and right to the speakers using the lead (around £1 on ebay). In the ps3 settings you can set it so picture goes through hdmi and sound goes out of the regular av cable, have fun!
My screen (Samsung SyncMaster P2450) doesn't have build-in speakers as well, but it DOES have a 3.5mm audio jack output on the back, to output the audio coming fron HDMI, so check that before buying cables
Best solution, imho, rather than a set of speakers, would be a decent pair of headphones, you can get decent in-ear buds for around 20-25€ for example the Creative EP-630 or the sennheiser cx200 / cx300.
Thanks for the advice guys, I will check it out tomorrow. As for headphones, I really want speakers since i'm gonna have friends over for some fifa 12 tournaments and various other games. That's why i'm specifically after speakers
