LOOOL! Just ADD dude... sounds all to familiar to me  . I walk to the shed to close the door (5m), along the way I start thinking about kittens, I'm back and realize I forgot to close the door, return to shed, start thinking about what to have for dinner, forget to close the door... etcetera etcetera. Usually after walking three times back and forth I can manage to not think about something interesting and do what I'm supposed to.
All you have to do is quit the drinking and take a daily prescription stimulant. Well it may not be easy but it'll probably help

That is why I always have a list ^^
No excessive shopping, just in and out. Simple.
Plus where would I end up if I'd remember every silly small thing. There are far more important stuff to remember
