Quote: | Back when I got started, which sounds like ancient history, back then the demographics of people who were into computer games, was totally different, in my opinion, than they are today. Back then, computers were more expensive, which made them more exclusive to people who were maybe at a certain income level, or education level. So the people that played computer games 15 years ago were that type of person. They probably didn't watch television as much, and the instant gratification era hadn't quite grown the way it has lately. I think in the last 5 or 6 years, the demographics have really changed, now this is my opinion, because computers are less expensive so more people can afford them. More "average" people now feel they should own one. |

Your thoughts?
TWIN PEAKS is "something of a miracle."
"...like nothing else on television."
"a phenomenon."

I don't see where she said gaming sucks and that she won't make any more games.

It's a shame she didn't expand on her comment
Looking back, games were often action based back then, FPS was king
There's definite parallels between her statment then and the state of gaming nowadays, but back then we still had variety, look at the FPS from the time, all done it differently, they felt different, played different
Now it's as if every FPS wants to be CoD, every TPS wants to be GoW, hell Mass Effect 2 & 3 tried to be GoW
Her statement at the time is definitely being played out now, as I said, back in 1999 we still had variety across the board, I think Point n Click had died by then but that's because companies stopped making them
Here's some of the big games from around that time (96-99)
C&C Red Alert & Tiberian Sun
Diablo
Elder Scrolls Dagerfall
Quake 1-3
Duke Nukem 3D
Fallout 1&2
GTA 1&2
Jedi Knight
Age of Empires
Unreal
Rainbow Six
Grim Fandango
Thief
System Shock 2
Half Life
Counter Strike
Unreal Tournament
Medal of Honor
Planescape Torment
I wonder what Roberta would have to say about the situation these days
