i have a dynamic IP so i registered a domain on the dyndns website.
installed the ddclient on my linux machine. set up my apache web server. everything works ok.

i also have a dns server - bind. can i make my dns server authoritative for the domain registered? if yes, then what do i put in the zone file for the domain? the A record must have a static IP.

im confused. it's a project for a course I'm currently taking. the task was to buy a domain if u have a static ip . if not, register one on dyndns and configure your dns server to be authoritative master for it.
can anyone shed some light upon this? Sad

Pfff it has been a while since I busied myself with stuff like that. Anyway since your IP-address is dynamic, binding a service to the address doesn't seem so useful unless it rebinds every time your address changes. Hope that helps a little.
