Russia - 10-20% WTF, how did this happen? I know that there was lots of immigration to russia in the early 00s. But still didnt think there where so many forign people in Russia.

There were always muslims in russia. Not only immigration. Actually I'd say that the smallest part must've been immigration. Look at all the turk folk. Kazachs, usbeks, turkmen, chechen and so on... mostly muslim.

Yes, the sowiet union gave its best to get rid off religion, but it seems that a lot did not gave up on that.

And since when is turkey arabic Confused

So basically the 20% are most probably russian muslims.

Correction: There were always Muslims in Russia after the fall of the CCCP, during which Muslims from the Ruski-Asian republics ("*stan") moved to the European republics for various reasons. When it fell, a lot of the Muslims were already in Russian territories, or moved there to remain part of Russia and not *stan. Smile

So that means there where next to no mulsims in Soviet in the 80s? The fall of CCCP was in 91, right?

You see, they pray at streets and tram rails making it a total nightmare for non-muslim folks who happen to work at nearby streets. And then they wonder why non-muslims hate them Neutral

How long did the prayer take? Commonly it's not longer than 20-30 minutes, but I can understand that it must be immensely annoying when the streets are blocked like this. The pics released from france recently look like a joke compared to this mass.

Btw what's so "special" about this place, that all of them came there? Must be 3000-5000 people?

There is Moscow Cathedral Mosque at that place. There were about 100 000 people and they occupied all neighboring streets as reported by news media, comment #15.

Planned time was 55 minutes, but it's possible it took much longer due to metal detectors and police rummaging. Comment #4 - Confiscated knifes and razors were lying under police feet.

The more annoying thing is that this time mayor of city dedicated whole pavilion of the exhibition center for the mass prayer, but very few believers came there.

They claim they didn't know about such place. Outside of Moscow I would totally believe that, but in Moscow I doubt that.
