Without WW1, Hitler would have probably not risen to power. Hitler rose to power because of the economic depression throughout the world at the decades between the world wars. This is an over-simplification, of course, but it is safe to say that the Great Depression would have probably not happened at the timeframe, and perhaps it could have been avoided altogether.
Time to learn some modern European history?  |

Perhaps the tension between the USA and USSR would rise even more and without the lessons from history, since WW1+2 never happened, it would've led to an allout nuclear war. We can speculate a lot.

That is a more realistic outcome, but you can also look at the opposite and say that tensions might not have risen in the first place.

Franz Ferdinand's assassination was only a (lousy) pretext to start WW1. The world was on the verge of war anyway, with or without Gavrilo Princip. Don't forget how Germany fabricated the pretext to start WW2 - if opportunity doesn't arise by pure chance, then you have to force it a bit.

This, is the truth of the matter. You cannot really blame this one event for putting the whole of Europe in turmoil, war was inevitable anyway, this was simply the last nail in the coffin.
