This is my current mobile. HTC Touch Pro 2
But though I tried to treat it well, it fell apart over the time
Screen got a crack (was pretty much my fault), but since some weeks I have this strange rainbow colored region right in the center of the screen
In use you can't see both of em
And some months ago a black sticky fluid started pouring out of the back :/ I tried to peel it off (thought that somehow dirt must've gotten at the back of the phone). Later I realized it was the glue that held the aluminum and plastic on the back cover...
So cheapish! The keys still work pretty good (except for the U, have to press it a little bit harder ) but it somehow became slower. I re-flashed the original firmware back on the phone but it refuses to work as fast as it initially did. Very strange indeed. Actually very sad, as I paid a good amount of money for that phone and actually said to myself that I won't buy expensive phones anymore (300€+).
Well... And yesterday I finally sent my order for the Galaxy S2
If everything goes well, I'll have it hopefully before the next weekend
Finally Android And this time I promise, I'll write Apps for it Didn't inform myself about windows mobile development before I got the TP2 :/

Gratz! I wish I could get Galaxy S2 but it won't be coming out for T-mobile USA. I could use EDGE internet instead of HSPA but that would be kinda pointless to get HSPA phone and use EDGE.
I hate those different frequencies!
Anyhow, I went witn LG G2x. Overclocked to 1.5ghz(dual core) and its awesome. Got it for $100

Why don't we have such awesome deals here (I'm planning to buy myself a smartphone before the end of the year *challenge accepted*, but prices are definitely sky high atm). Congratulations tho, it's a great phone

My friend has an S2 and although I'm a mega iFag sheep, I gotta say it's amazing. The only problem, as ever with an android device, is the sub par app Market place....
Either way, if you refuse to go iOS, then this is without a doubt the best Android phone on the Market. Damn its sooooo light!

Actually I was very lucky to get it at that price!
Initially I just wanted to get the Samsung Galaxy S (for ~320€) and a contract so that I can finally lower my mobile costs (~100€ per month... I'm sure that I spent easily over 5000€ in the last 5 years on phone bills ).
The contract would've cost 20€ per month and include:
+ Free calls within my own network
+ Unlimited SMS
+ Unlimited Internet (cap to edge speed after 300mb, which should be plenty, as I have wireless at home and work)
+ 120 minutes in all directions
I saw some offers from other retailers that had this contract together with the galaxy s2 for 45€ per month, but this resulted in ~600€ for the phone :/
And then I found some, selling the phone for 200€ and the same contract for 35€...
Finally I found it for 30€ + 30€ a month contract 20€ for the unlimited internet and what I listed above, 10€ for the phone ^_^
Only downside, I couldn't carry my old number into the new contract. So I'll have to update my shit, or keep the old sim card in my tp2 :/

I was also looking at that as a possible replacement for the iPhone 4, but I will wait for Apple to reveal its next phone before I decide if I am going to upgrade or not. Not sure what the point is, to be honest, the only thing I can think of that would need the horse power of S2 or iP4s/iP5 are games, and they already do pretty amazing stuff with iP4.
And as Hd said, the Android market is very sub-par. big mess, a lot of shit, little quality software. Basically like Cydia - it probably has something you need, but it is so full of shit, you have to know exactly what to look for, or your head will explode.

I don't like apple, but for a very short amount of time, even I thought about getting an iPhone. You know, all the nice apps that are available and so on...
But then I said, I won't get that phone just to be another apple sheep! I would've definitely jailbreaked it and pirated all my shit, but then I took a look at the other phones. Realizing that the great Samsung Galaxy S just costs ~300€ opened my eyes

Yeah, pretty much agree with everything you said. And I even considered waiting for the next iPhone after seeing the prices for the iPhone 4
It's not like google is the savior and apple the bad guys. Both try to make profit. But as android is more "open" it is actually open for flaws. Just like the android market. If Android just had one hardware base, you'd see the same quality software on the android market too.
Android is basically the PC and the iPhone is the console (though jailbreaking makes the iphone a nice pc again, with lot's of software to enjoy) I'm the PC guy ^_^

People like to go "Apple this Apple that" but they forget about the software. I have a few Android devices at work and I have to admit I am disappointed in a lot of areas. Major problem for me is the lack of polish and uniformity. Know how when you run some Java GUI app on Windows and it looks hilariously out of place because it uses some Qt or other shit library that looks nothing Windows like? Now imagine every application having its own GUI motif (most are "open-source reminiscent" ).
And as for your PC vs. console, I think a more appropriate comparison is Slackware vs Ubuntu. Ubuntu is easier to install and operate at fist glance but can be used to get deep (Darwin on the iOS, et al)

But with the iphone you are currently restricted to the inferior hardware. I still understand your decision, it was besically technically and app wise the best phone when you got it and as far as I remember you said yourself that you got it for a very good price too Well and it still has a very good app base.
But I just can't stand that this is all because apple's restrictive handling of the app developers :/ I'd never want to be pushed around like that as a developer. One can not argue that they made everything right, out of a business perspective It just does not fit my point of view.

The worse thing is, developers put up with it. It is a magic wheel like that. If developers get some ballz of steal and threaten to pull of the iOS market, Apple would most probably budge and let them a lot more space. If developers leave, Apple knows that it will lose most of its strength. However the developers won't leave and agree to put up with it because Apple has the majority of the customers, who are there mostly because of the apps.

You do realize that you did support this policy, don't you
One would say that you were thinking: "But I'm just a single guy. 5 other people will buy an android phone. Me buying this won't make a difference."
*But most probably it was just: "Sweet, an iPhone for $300. I could jailbrake it and play lots of games."

How much did you pay for it? The prices dropped really good so I was initially considering getting that one (~320€ here)

I beg to differ, the Sensation is well worthy by its side.

Sorry but you can't just say that the sensation is equally good as the Samsung Galaxy S2.

The only difference in hardware is that the SG:S2 got 256 more ram. the rest they are THE SAME.

Except for the Super AMOLED Plus display (true black, high contrast, solid colors from every angle), bigger Battery(1650mAh), being the lightest touchscreen smartphone, being the flattest smartphone, having the Exynos processor (which is MUCH faster, just look at quadrant score...), 16GB Internal memory instead of 1GB (lulz) that is 100x faster than the external memory that you can add and the superior capacitive multi touch screen that supports up to 10 fingers instead of 4... yeah they are basically the same
But the Sensation has more ppi and a 16:10 display. Not that I care

Those are minor things, you wont notice big differences in battery or the display, as qHD aint that worse then Super AMOLED.
As for the sizes and weight, i rather have a good solid and abit heavy phone then such light one, it almost feels like the Samsung is made out of cheap plastic.
CPU wise they are both very much alike and you wont notice big differences either.
True about the memory, i forgot that. But seriously, 10 finger touch support, how will you hold your phone in your hands then?
And not to speak of the horrible Touch Wizz interface, Sense 3.0 aint super but its far superior then Touch Wizz...
