Yep the Greek must have thought the rest of the world owned them a living. We brought you democracy, now pay up! And of course none of the guilty parties get prosecuted.

Yeah, I watched this earlier today (after Colbert Very Happy). I love how he makes satirical comments that hit right in the middle of things Smile

And I didn't know Greeks get to retire by the age of 53! And they get 80% of their pay...

It's like country will give you something like that just to keep you distracted while they get to steal and destroy the rest of the country. You can't really say that ppl didn't contribute to their own demise. It's like in Cro. As long as ppl have something today, what happens in the future doesn't matter...

Yes retiring at age 53, it is ridiculous! But see how fucked they are, if they raise the retirement age to let's say 63. This will create an unfair situation since a group of people will have to work an additional 10 years while others enjoy their pension. Btw these jobs to keep working for ten more years aren't there, resulting in a huge increase of poverty. If the Greek ever want to be able to pay off their debts they will have to leave the Euro.

That's why you make so that everyone have a reasonable and same pensions!

That's the issue with pensions around the world imo. Everyone should be able to live decent life after retirement, but with current system you have those that worked high paid jobs that get giant pension, and those who worked job that payed nothing and end up being poor and struggling to keep on.

I would put the same pension for everyone. If you worked a job that payed well, then you could have think ahead and save money, so that when you retire you'll be able to do what you want.

That way those who had shitty paid jobs would be able to live a decent life. Sure they won't go to cruises or whatever, but they'll be able to peacefully live out their lives.

True there is a problem when your country is knee deep in shit so that there aren't any jobs.

I don't see how leaving the euro will benefit them, can anyone explain to me? Someone who knows his way in finance Smile

I googled a bit and found that it varies :\

But 53 is overly exaggerated.

I found that its somewhere from 58 to 61, which is still lower than most European countries...

Well I am also not an economist and I think understood it wrong. If they leave the Euro and default on a lot of loans they still go bankrupt. If they stay in the Euro with current debt load they also will go bankrupt. Either situation is very bad for the global economy. My guess, part of their debt has to be remitted and then we need another bailout of some banks. But I still would like to see them gone from the Euro, lying cockroaches, so this can not happen again.

The greek government couldn't/didn't do it by itself, figures were cooked by foreign banks and everyone went along. Search for the responsible parties elsewhere, not an entire country.
