I'm thinking about if I should just move to another (cheap/poor) country and live a better life there.

It doesnt really matter where in the world I live because of my job..

Any (good) suggestions?

Compared to Europe the cost of living the states is pretty damn cheap. Reason why I prefer it over there over anything else. Food, gas, cars, everything is just cheaper to buy. The economy near/in a lot of the larger cities in Texas is booming right now. Once i'm done with the military i'll probably move to Austin.

Many states have fairly low tax rates as well, and if you only rent and not buy a home/land then all you will pay is the sales tax (Which some don't have) and federal tax. I guess the biggest issue would be getting your work visa.

But don't the people earn less? My entry salary was ~45k€ here, I doubt it would've been even $45k in the states :/

The cost of living is so much cheaper, and we get taxed so much less back in the states that it isn't as less as you'd think. And it really depends on the area like anywhere else.

I get that. I wouldn't mind moving to another country for a little while just to get out of this boring routine i've got going here. Preferably a hot country.

Costa Rica, Philippines, Thailand?

It's not like your situation's anywhere unique, though - plenty of expat forums (bet even norwegian ones) that you could check and find out which country would be best suited for your particular needs.

Well.. I got a buddy with a apartment in Thailand, so he says I can go there whenever I want.
I also got family and friends in USA, so I could go there.
But the easiest for me would be to just move to Poland, since my parents live there.
Cheap and lovely country, great food, some nice people, close to Norway, so easy cheap and quick for me to get back here for a quick trip if thats needed etc...
But moving back in with my parents is something I'd never do again, so I would have to find a place to live there etc.

I'm actualy so bored right now, I'll just drive to Poland tonight.
Then I'll see when/if I bother driving back to Norway Razz

Bodyguards are quite affordable in Russia. Depends on your budget if you go with the pros in suits or the other type of "pro" that usually wear leather jackets. Very Happy
