Anyone tried this stuff? It's prescribed to treat ADHD, but is generally abused by students. Me and a friend are looking into potentially trying it. Any info?
Its a drug with neurological effects. Simply do not try it without medical prescription.
Hiperactivity syndrom is overdiagnosed nowadays. As far as I know it will not give you a good trip...
I'm NOT after a trip. I want to be more focused, primarily for exams, or heavy work load days. I plan on taking it at a prescribed rate and/or coincidently, orally.
Adderall is better for studying, especially before a test. Coming down from Ritalin can be a bitch, and some people claim it gives you a bit of a freaky high. Also adderall is 10x cheaper on my campus, and supposedly there are less side-effects.
Beware tho. Almost all my friends take adderall in computer science, and they all appear to be addicted to it. I steer clear of all drugs for that very reason =/
Jesus... I was planning to write such a topic. But only for therapeutical use, and this is what I would label as abuse. If you do not have a diagnosis don't experiment with these medications.

Damn, I read that there are very little chances of addiction, if taken at a prescribed rate orally, and that withdrawal was only set on in a small number of cases.

The chemical component of Adderall is dextroamphetamine, something you also find in speed.

I don't think that you will be able to focus.
Nope working component is methylphenidate, this is a neurotransmitter re-uptake inhibitor. Dextramphetamine is more a stimulator, stimulates production of certain neurotransmitters.
And a shortage of neurotransmitters in certain centres of the brain is actually what is causing ADD/ADHD.
they also prescribe ritalin to people with anxiety issues.
I took it once. It was weird. The world was moving too fast and I couldn't focus/function. It was as if all i tried to do while taking it... was trying to keep up with the world. (but the world wasn't moving at hyperspeed - i was and it felt like i was moving slow[weird as fuck]) But a friend of mine who also tried it at the same time was more focused and functioned properly.
It works best if you got issues.
The best thing you can do is take it. It won't kill you. It won't destroy you. It's just different.
My stance on the whole taking drugs thing is this... take anything you want at whatever doses you want. If you're careful, nothing 'serious' will happen. It prevents serious addiction and you only live once. Why not do it. Especially since now, at least to me, it feels like end times. so do it. and then try adderall. And compare
I would. If I had someone with adderall in my life.
I just watched a test on ritalin over the body, it seems for it to work, you need to have quite good sugar intake, because using your brain on it, depletes sugar at an insane rate
don't study about the drug you want to take. just take it.
Well, some tips are always good, you know drink water on E etc
Fuck E! It's good if you want to have awesome orgasmic sex (if you're a girl)
It's good to have tips for street drugs. But shit like ritalin. It's not going to kill you. If you're aware of what you're taking and know at least the basic symptoms you know what to expect. It's not like taking cocaine for the first time...

Ritalin works. Take a small dose (like 5mg) with your lunch and in about 20min you'll be faster and more focused. It lasts 4 to 6 hours and you feel very tired afterwards, but you'll remember whatever you read. Just don't expect any miracles, the effect is small.
THAT'S how ritalin turned out for me last time i took it
provigil/modafinil is rather wonderful tho. lets you stay awake (not nervous like coffee, or hyperactive like amphetamines, just plain focused and awake) for a looooong time, makes those 500 pages of analytic chemistry quite an interesting read, plus you lose weight. what more could one expect from a drug? it's a scourge though if you're in any sort of creative/out-of-the-box-thinking job since it severely limits your creativity.
on a serious note though, i would never integrate one of those drugs into my studies/work/lifestyle, because i would just get dependant on it. "oh this exam and that paper turned out great, let's pop a pill while i do the next one too". or maybe looking back 10 years later and realizing you only achieved all that because of a drug. learn to control your ADHD or work with it, not against it. i'm still fighting with it, but it's gotten a lot better over the past few years and in some cases, it's even useful.

That's the difference with me, the effect is huge in my experience. A clear mind, focus, alertness, organized attitude, no tendency to fall asleep, and generally I now work with a good mood. Then again that's the reason I got diagnosed and prescribed. I take 15-17,5mg which works for 2,5 hours. I don't feel tired at all when the effect wears off and there's little rebound.

Lemme tell you a quick story and u decide....
I friend of mine was on grade 12/12th grade and we were hanging out smoking weed after he finished school (he had to pass math, guys was 20 and that was the cut off limit for highschool, hes a moron) and he tells me he has some hard math project due tomorrow that the teacher gave them 2 weeks on.
So i look at it in his book and its not hard, just involved as u have to write a 5 page report and make a presentation (large cardboard things).
So we put the book down obviously.
Anyway, he busted out a like 5 rits a little while later and he's like lets sniff em. I told him hes fucked and he's like "naw man, this will make u concentrate 200% blah blah". usually I wouldnt believe shit like that but coming from him, it did mean something.
So i said sure, break out 2 for me (those large ass white ones). I hit to moderate lines.
About 5-10 mins later i started thinking about the math thing for my buddy.
I pulled out the book.
To sum it up, the report took me 5 minutes and about 15-20 mins for the cardboard presentation.
And i knew everything was right. School work was always easy for me.
Next day, he comes running out at one of the periods while i was hustling off school grounds and he's like "Holy fuck man!" And i say what of course. And he says "The teacher gave me a 92 (A or A+)...I had to tell him a friend tutored me but he bought it".
Believe it or not if you want. But if your a reg on here, its my buddy i mention from time to time for Vancouver (Canada)...he used to live where i do and hes still my best friend. But I swear on whatever is sacred that the above story is 1000 percent true.
HOWEVER
It really fucks up your nose....worse than coke and not as bad a meth
EDIT
BTW, I dont have ADHD or ADD or anything. And popping them doesnt do a thing except make u a tad more focused and if pop enough, you go into an over analytical thinking and it ruins your fog and ends up pissing you off an depressing you until u come off it (about 8 hours for it to totally go away)
It's delicate as it is, and taking some drugs that aren't meant for you means that there is big chance something could go wrong. In some cases it won't manifest, but that is why there is a list of contraindication. Believe it or not, pharmaceutical companies test their product for a reason...

You plan on taking it at a prescribed rate? How can you unless its been prescribed to you? Thats the whole point of prescribing...its personal.
shitloads of new stuff in my pc. Cant keep track of it all.
Playing around with heavy prescription medication like that can cause any number of issues (recurring depressions due to a difference in signal substance concentration and production, chronic anxiety syndrome etc).
Just look at methamphetamine (one of four kinds of amphetamines in Adderal) and how users tend to fuck up their serotonin, dopamine and noradrenaline balance in their brains causing chronic depression or triggering other mental illnesses that may or may not be life long.
It won't happen to everyone obviously, but there's no way of knowing you will come out of it safe.

What's a rit? Ritalin? I read about the prescribed rate, and it seems that if you don't inject or sniff it, but ingest it, it's milder but longer, and that's what I'm after.

Usually all prescription medicines, have a default adult dose, for Ritalin I read a 20mg pill a day is the lowest, which gets optimized with consideration, of your general health status. And I do have 2 persons to consult with about the pill, one of them can even prescribe it to me, but cba because they're relatives.
