Tutanota automatically encrypts all your data on your device. Your emails as well as your contacts stay private. You can easily communicate with any of your friends end-to-end encrypted. Even subject and attachments are encrypted.

They have iOS and Android apps, 1gb of free storage, and the encryption system is intuitive and easy to use. Many languages available. I wouldn't think it's 100% secure, but it seems like a gigantic step above gmail in terms of privacy.

Any thoughts?

if it's from the US - it's unsecure
all traffic through the US is monitored/stored/read, more than 128bit encryption is illegal, and they bruteforce through that in seconds

I use protonmail, only because I pledged to it, but it's good enough I would have thought

I was using protonmail too, but this has easy end-to-end encryption (you type a password before sending the email, the destinatary can only open it with that password) and an android app... it also has twice the storage space... 1gb ain't much, but it's better than 500mb Smile
