Figured I give it a shot and ask here.

Anyone know of a program (free or trial version) that can convert an XML file (without a schema definition) to an access database or even just a set of .csv files or whatever?

We've tried XML Spy, Map Force, and Ultra Edit but none of them can deal with the file being 780mb... not sure if it is relevant but basically these is a set of data tables extracted from an EMR.

Any ideas? Smile

erm, xml is way WAY different from a relational database
there's no software to convert it since it's not comparable in any way
i would just do an xquery of the xml file that formatted everything as relational insert lines and ran that

or .csv as you mentioned

edit:
google gives this;

basically if this were the near future it would look like this:
https://www.ontariomd.ca/imageserver/OMDContent/cms/documents/EMR_Specification_v40_Appendix_G_Final_Jan172011.pdf

but we're getting data (relational database) in xml that doesn't match that. these companies don't always stick to specifications even though govt pays them to..
