Yo guys, I am actually not into games but right now I feel the need to start playing again.
Since I am on a laptop (2x1.9GHZ, 2GB Ram, Radeon x1200 onboard) I was wondering
if you'd be able to recommend some good games my notebook could handle.
No matter if they are old.. Just good games.

UT2k4, don't think it will go native-res, but it will do (on a x1400 it ran 1280x800 great).

Really? Actually a 1200 is just half as fast as an x1400.'

try

Far Cry
Half-Life 2
GTA San Andreas
Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy)

These are AA+ titles. Dunno which kind of games you like. There are several good FPS, RTS, RPG, Racing games

Of course you can play ALL games made with DX8 or DX9+ with ShaderModel 2.0

But ure unable to play such titles like UT2K7, Crysis, Assasins creed, CMR: DiRT.....

HL2 works great (without the HDR). You can also try to play the older NFS games, they work great, and are better than the current ones anyway. DL like 1000000 cars and have fun!

my best strategy game is
"C&C Generals + Zero Hour expansion" (uses DX8.1)

"Rise Of Nations" is a great strategy game
"City Life DeLuxe" or "Simcity 4 + Rush Hour" would be a great suggestion.

for RPG are "Heroes of Might & Magic" and "Gothic 3" useful. (I generally don't play RPG, but these are good)

Why would you game on your lap anyway? Most games require much finer mouse control than a track pad offers (if its real time at all, turn based games are probably okay, but I wouldn't want to play a FPS or an RTS with one)
I have the M1710, which weighs only slightly less, I think 4.5 KG, and I've used it on my lap a few times for quickly checking something.

You can connect a mouse to a laptop, you know... Razz

I play games on my laptop when I'm in Uni and I'm bored in classes.

I didn't say you couldn't. What I meant was if you don't have a surface to put your laptop on, you probably don't have that much room to attach a mouse and use it.
In the very limited case that you might be in a seat which has a pop up surface big enough for your mouse, fine, but most people don't find themselves in that kind of chair everyday.

someone said FlatOut2, so I'll repeat it. This game is really well optimized, will probably run at pretty high detail and 60 fps on your computer. NFS: Carbon and Most Wanted are good too .

One FPS that hasn't been mentioned is Soldier of Fortune 2, if you haven't played that it is fun... Smile

I have laptop with same GPU specs.

You can play Dragon Age and Starcraft 2 from newer games on native resolution, with low settings. It will even have good enough frame rate.

Civilization V is fine too, on low (slightly laggy, but it's turn based, so who cares).

Tropico 3 too (low).

On the other hand, some other games are barely playable.

I "played" Risen on low at 1024x768, and it has 12-15fps framerate. Which is not everyones cup of tea.

Call of Jarez 2 was around 20fps at lower resolution...

If you are into adventure games, Telltalle episodic adventures (Sam and Max, Monkey island), play very good.

Torchlight plays great too (only shadow can't be maxed).

As a guideline, my older x1600pro graphic is slightly faster then 3470, and with it I played pretty much everything from 2008 or before, although some games were problematic (Crysis was struggling on low, although it could be because that computer has old AthlonXP 2600+ as CPU, I remember Timeshift was laggy as hell too...)

EDIT:
Almost forgot... With 3470 laptop I played Darkensang (first part) with low setting on native resolution with decent framerate (it was actually first game I tried with such laptop).
