|
 |
Currently I have a Geforce 8800 GTS (320MB) in my computer and as you can imagine, it is not enough for full screen gaming (can't even THINK about anti aliasing )
I have a budget of 50€ ( ) and am looking for a used GFX card.
What would you say yes to:
Geforce 250 GTS
Geforce 9800 GTX+
Radeon 4850
or something else? (4770 is too expensive )
At least 512MB I'd say, right? (Anti aliasing is not THAT important for me at <50€ )
(my spec is AMD II X4 @ 4x3.0 GHz, 4GB DDR3 RAM)
btw: How is gainward or xfx at radeons?
=> NFOrce GIF plugin <= - Ryzen 3800X, 16GB DDR4-3200, Sapphire 5700XT Pulse

I use the HD 4800 myself and have never have a problem with it. Never Crysis tested it, but have played every from long civ 5 games.. X3, Fallout: NV, Just Cause 2, Far Cry 2, NWN2 (NWN2 and Fallout 2, sometimes the heavy flora would jitter me a bit, but that's pretty easy to turn down)

512MB spaz? Is it enough for full hd?
Hmm... I have a small problem. my wireless pci card is exactly at that point where the cooler is... Could that be a problem? (with my 8800 gts there is just 1-2 mm space in between :/)
That one was sold for 36 euro. I think that is a fair price, right?

Save some money and buy yourself a decent card...

By "full screen gaming", what resolution are we talking about? If that's 1080p+, the 4850 seems like the better choice between the ones you listed. It will allow you to play most ports at 1080p with little to no problems, but I'd suggest finding a cheap 260 GTX, perhaps even ebay.
Edit Ah congrats

Seems a good deal, congrats
You shouldn't have any particular problem with games (even the recent ones, since most of them are cheap console ports ), just make sure to not exaggerate with AA and you'll be fine.

Whether an upgrade is worth it also depends on your current GPU.

running 8600GT and have a 7900GT sitting on the shelf... just wondering if it can play more recent games @ 1680x1050 (such as perhaps starcraft II)

Well it will certainly help over a 8600/7900, but that CPU is one huge bottleneck.

It is cheap, but I always go with sth that is going to last and that can be upgradeable.
My MBO (ASRock M3A770DE) is a great example of that. It's cheap, supports DDR3 memory, you can upgrade to phenom x6 later on, it has 2 pci-e (granted if you want crossfire the second becomes 4x).
Anywho, I never buy something without really thinking about the future, that is how long can it last even if I upgrade it later. Because that way I can always sell old parts and buy new ones
