Don't fool yourself with those "all year" tires, might become MUCH more expensive if you do

Since I have a FWD car, I only change the front tires to Summer/Winter, and the rear tires are 3 years now "all year"..

My F150 has good all seasons so i don't change them over. But i put Snow Sports on my 911 C4 and its a blast in the snow. Snow tires are a must on my Ls430 because its only RWD.

What are Snow tires? They have been make ALL WEATHER forever. These include all seasons. Do you mean Snow Chains that you put over your tires?

1. When the road is icy/packed with snow ALL WEATHER tires are basically worthless.
2. Proper Snow/Winter tires have small metal studs.



I've driven with both M+S (mud + snow) tires and proper studded tires and M+S are utterly useless on ice/snow.

'Snow Tires' doesn't mean just tires made for snow. It also means 'Cold Weather' tires. Here in the US at least, they don't call them different things. Even though 'Snow Tires' are the ones with the studs in them, and cold weather aren't. The still call both 'Snow Tires' though.

I wouldn't want the studded tires for the entire cold season. They aren't really made for driving on pavement without snow. At least the cold weather tires handle snow quite well without the negatives of having those studs in them when you don't need them.

All Seasons are just fine unless it snows. Even then, they aren't bad. Aren't the best either.

I keep all seasons on for normal driving, and swap them out with my summer track tires when i'm going to be doing auto-cross or other stuff.
