From what I understood so far my MSI mainboard has a Realtek ACL889 chip that can encode 5.1 audio from games into DTS (DTS Interactive) and send it to my 5.1 System via SPDIF.
It appears that Realtek made a deal with Gigabyte to deactivate this feature on mainboards from other manufacturers. So now I'm expected to buy a dedicated soundcard to use the feature
Is there a known way to circumvent this limitation, like a value in the registry that makes the Realtek driver unlock the setting?
I have an ALC889.
I thought the "A" version and the regular one are identical, just named differently to indicate that one has DTS encoding enabled and the other one is locked.
