|
 |
I had the weirdest issue last night. My graphics card got busted so i had to try and replace it with an older one i had laying around until i can get it fixed.
Now , last time i used said older video card it was working perfectly but that's not consistent with what happened last night. After plugging in the card and fastening it with a screw ( it was certainly in there ) when i tried to turn on the computer , it wouldn't pass POST. The error alert message thingie would be One long beep and Three short beeps.
According to google that beep-code indicates faulty RAM , which is just weird , coz when i plugged in an even older graphics card it works like a charm.
My specs are : MoBo : Asus P5Q3
Older Graphics card : Asus Geforce 7950 GT
Even Older Graphics card : Leadtek 6600 GT
Any ideas anyone ? Is the 7950 just fuxxed ? Why would the mobo report issues with memories when i plug it in ?

1 Long Beep, 3 Short Beeps
One long beep followed by three short beeps means that either the video card isn't installed or the memory on the video card is bad. Reseating or replacing the video card will typically fix the cause of this Award beep code.
That's for AwardBIOS, so may just be it not liking the card anymore.

Well , first chance i get i'm going to try the 7950 on another computer , but since it's got a custom fan on it it's going to be a bit hard to find one that'll have the room necessary to plug it in.
